I don't think they thought he would demand that much money or pull this protracted hold out thing...if they had expected it they likely would have handled it differently.

Yeah honestly who could have predicted Jones acting like this? Sure it was a possibility, but the chances of it happening seemed so low. Its just unprecedented.
