I know this is boring to all you racecar guys but I finally got my rig going. It wasn't without beating my head against a wall at some things, but it was nice to get going.

I did monkey some of the colors around so it looks less like winter in Kansas, but this is what I spend all my time and money on trying to make run.

Would love to ride around in that for a day or two!

Jason you have a suggestion for a quality balancer puller and installer tool?

I'm thinking of getting this one.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Tool worked great, got the balancer off and seal changed.

Before I put the balancer back on I put it in the oven at 200F for 30 minutes and put a bag of ice over the snout of the crankshaft at the same time.

Put some antiseize on the crank and used the balancer install tool and it slid on snug but like butter.

This weekend I need to make new mounts for the new radiator, move my MSD box because the new radiator is bigger, and wire the new relays for the dual fans.

Looking forward to getting her back on the road soon.

Had lunch with a buddy today. Snapped a pic of my C7 and his Roush Stage 3 together.

Nice. Knowing my luck if I tried something like that some freak hail storm would pop up.

Where are you located and are you reasonable? I buy cars off the street every day~

lewdog 03-28-2017 05:54 PM

I saw a car on the road I hand't seen in quite a while today. What I think was a late 90's Dodge Viper.

What ever happened to those? I see they stopped making them for awhile but it says they are in production again but maybe just for racing?

Maybe it was my sheltered life in a northern state and never knowing much about cars, but I had quite a few Dodge Viper Hotwheels cars and thought it was the coolest car around.

SAUTO 03-28-2017 05:56 PM

They were cool cars back then, and pretty ****ing fast

A fairly new one was in town last year for a car show. I don't know the production history of the car. But I think a large portion of them ended up wrecked because they were purely a motor, gear, driveshaft, differential, tire. No traction control, no safety anything. Just all the hate and discontent they could muster crammed into a chasis.

So weren't they quite a bit lighter than today's Challenger, Mustang and Camaro then? Cars today that get bagged on for being too heavy.

I don't know what they weighed. It might be more than you think. I'm pretty sure those early ones had a V-10

IA_Chiefs_fan 03-28-2017 06:21 PM

They still make them with a V10. I briefly considered one before my Corvette.

Dodge is killing off the Viper though. Sad to see, because the first gen Viper was one of those cars I lusted after when I was in high school.
