I read it more as a strategic move. They knew Berry would not fall. There was, however, a good chance Clausen would fall. So they took Berry and kept an eye on Clausen. Why draft a guy at #5, even if you love him, if the odds are he'll be around much later.

This makes Clausen even more appetizing, because now you don't have the pressure to play him right away, as his contract will be very manageable.

Oh indeed. This situation + Weiss = the ideal environment for Clausen. He has the tools, and what happened tonight could make him less of a tool.

Great day. Got Berry. Cavs lost. Lakers winning. Great day.

yeah, i have to give them credit

they figured clausen would fall and he did

now, do they actually take him????????????

You have to think we'll take a WR tomorrow also. As much as Haley talked about the number of dropped passes, you know he wants a shiny new WR. I suspect one of Benn/Tate/D. Williams will be a Chief by tomorrow night.

Ryan Sims comes to mind. I think Cody will take the money and eat his way out of a job.

It's possible, but IMO if you think the guy is a franchise QB you don't screw around with strategies like that.

My sources confirm that this is incorrect.

Wait, the Chiefs have competent minds at Arrowhead?
