At a point, there's just not a shitload you can do apart from trading every damn guy you have with only a year on his contract.

I mean hell, what if PM retires? Should we trade him now just to be safe?

No - these guys don't get paid to predict irrational.

This is on Jones and Katz.

Like I get why a RB on a franchise tag that already played a year on the tag would do it...really short career just looking for his 1 big deal...

Jones already got a big deal..and basically willing to flush 10 million and kill his FA value after, if he had just shown up and played out the year Jones would bank a huge FA deal next year..none of it makes any sense at all.

Sure seems to be what they're doing, yeah. This is essentially my 9 yr old trying really hard to make a good argument for getting a chinchilla (and man, she has made some convincing points) but when the arguments just aren't as convincing as they sound in her head, she starts having a temper tantrum and shitting on the floor or something (no, she has not done that)

I mean, the market is the market.

Seems as though Katz missed that lesson. He must've been listening to all those bitchy runningbacks...

I still kinda think Katz expected the market for the DTs to jump with Simmons, Williams and Lawrence all signing this off-season.

And it kinda did, but it didn't get close to Donald.

The failure of the market to develop threw them a curveball they weren't ready for.

So I do think we can actually consider the possibility of mere incompetence on Katz's part rather than bad-faith.

Hanlon's Razor is useful again: "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity..."

There's a good chance that Katz just royally ****ed up his read on the DT market, put himself in a bind and is now doubling down on stupid.

I want to believe that. At what point does someone (Jones) have to be the voice of reason here though? The agent only cost himself 3% of whatever this holdout ends up costing Jones. Jones needs to care about the money he's losing now more than any possible future earnings.

I mean go back years and you will see the DT market has almost ALWAYS gone up $500k more than the previous highest player for basically the top 5-7 guys. The only odd ball contract was ADs and if Katz went off that I don't know what to say.

Based on multiple years of history Katz and Jones should have expected to be the last DT contract this summer and it land at $24.5 or an even $25. Thats it! nothing more and nothing less

if you look at the katz brother's portfolio, chris seems to be their biggest client. you wonder if they thought this was "their moment" so to speak.

What's the voice of reason?

This is what Jones is being told.

You're the best DT in the game now

The Chiefs need you

The Chiefs can't win the SB without you

I guarantee you he thinks they'll cave because "we'll suck without him"

How do we cost Chris Jones the most amount of money?

We come out and absolutely body our first few opponents, his position is ****ed.

Matter of fact Jones probably thinks the Chiefs are "disrespecting him"

ChiTown 08-29-2023 04:01 PM

Everyday this continues on, he and his agent look like fools. If they stone the Lions on Thursday Night and CJ is still sitting at home watching the game on TV, they are gonna have to crater. They desperately need a Chiefs loss, like 38-33. And for that reason, f CJ and Katz.

TLO 08-29-2023 04:01 PM

Katz brothers more like Butt**** brothers.

100% they are hoping the Chiefs lose and lose because the defense can't stop anyone.

I wish. That team is actively tanking. No chance they want anything to do with Jones.

We just did it.

Technically the Chiefs could mitigate the damage by NOT keeping him on the FTR list for 2 weeks after he finally shows up.

But I don't think Andy's gonna do that. He is going to be PISSED about this. And remember, Reid is essentially a 'full week of practice and you MIGHT get limited reps' guy when people return from injury. Unless you're Mahomes, if you don't put a full week in, you're not playing. And even when you PUT a full week in, you might STILL not be playing.

He doesn't put guys out there if he doesn't think they're in game shape (unless you're Mahomes). He thinks a lesser player at 100% is more valuable than a better player at 95%. He might not even be wrong.

I don't see the Chiefs letting him off the hook. He's made his bed.

2018 should show the effectiveness of that strategy.....and Jones was actually on that defense.
