Name any 2nd round pick in the NFL (not named Colin Kaepernick) off the top of your head that has had more value than Tony Gonzalez?

we as Chiefs fans, for the majority, LIKED this trade, too.

In short, this board overvalues (and dramatically) later round picks. They are, like I said previously, MOSTLY good for the fact they give us 4 years of player control for players that cost NOTHING against the cap. Which is why a guy like Samie Parker will play for us for four years and then have no offers once his contract expires. They have value until their rookie contracts expire because they fill roster spots 30-52 which need to account for less than 15% of the total cap.

The value of those picks aren't the 1%'s like Jared Allen...

Were you okay giving up a 2nd for Surtain and Victor Bailey? How about a 2nd and a 4th for John Welbourn? These kind of trades seem to fail more often than not probably because there is usually a reason the other team wants to get rid of that player.

The Gonzo trade would have been fine if Scott hadn't wasted it.

Quick kill it with fire!

Deberg_1990 02-27-2013 11:03 AM

Alex Cassel. WooHoo!!

noa 02-27-2013 11:03 AM

Why must we continue to love through these same ridiculous patterns? I hate this franchise and the fact that it never learns.

Reerun_KC 02-27-2013 11:03 AM

We just Casseled ourselves....

Dammit!

kcpasco 02-27-2013 11:04 AM

2nd round picks don't have a great success rate...

they are VASTLY overrated on this board...

and we traded a 2nd and 4th for Welbourn? Are you sure? If so, lololol

the Talking Can 02-27-2013 11:04 AM

let's all welcome Steve Bono to the 4th wasted decade of the KC Chiefs...

true fans are throwing a party right now

What else do we have?

We haven't drafted a QB in the 1st in 30 years and the vast majority of our 2nd round picks SUCK.

Yeah having a better team and possibly making the playoffs would piss me off too. Man Andy Reid hasn't even coached a game and I hate him. What does Andy Reid know? It's not like he knows more than a fan base right?

But we want Geno cause he will take a 2-14 team places. That's pretty stupid. Well way stupid.

You guys are horrible fans. If your front office is anything like your fan base no wonder why you guys suck so horribly. Gonna be fun to see all you eat your crybaby words when you see that Alex is much better than a lot of you know it alls and fair weather fans think. Remember when he gets you to the playoffs keep hating on him. I will leave it at that.

That's because you're blind.

If this is true, :cuss:

An NFL source says that the framework of the deal is that the 49ers will get a No. 2 pick this year and a similar pick in the 2014 draft.
