I'm trying to get organized and remain organized.

My home office is in the middle of a remodel. I'm basically a 1 man business, with marketing, paper work, my trade, finding occasional sub contractors, and financials. I keep appointments on an email calendar as well as my binder calendar(for travel).

I keep totes with folders for each client(paper trails), contact note pages(digital) for each client and project, keep a paper "to do" and "lead followup" list.

Its a task to remain organized, but once in a while, I make myself put stuff where it should be. hopefully it will get easier.

I can't afford to forget something or miss an appointment. My business is all reputation.

Email + Calendar + Task list, I have no reason not to be organized.

That's how I do it... pretty simple.

A for throwing things out, try moving. I had a ton of stuff from school... threw most of the undergrad stuff away when I moved to Omaha, and most of the graduate stuff away when I got rid of my apartment there. One or two more moves should do it. :)

I have way too much crap to be organized.

I take my daily dose of adderrall, that really helped me out. Still, I am rather unorganized.

I'm not wired to be organized, and somewhat overwhelmed with things to do all the time. So I've adapted.

I made sure to get a phone that allows me to have a constantly sync'ed calendar and email at all times. That's been my latest and greatest new tool.

It's Outlook/Exhcange/MSMobile based phone, but it allows me to edit a single source of information whether I'm sitting at my computer or on the run.

I also have an app I installed on my comptuer that keeps that calendar sync'd with my wife's google calendar. So that's helped.

I'm still trying to figure out how to keep a running to-do list that works for me.

I've tried note books, but that changes too quickly and gets messy quickly. Using Word keeps it clean, but isn't as easily accessible. I end up ending myself emails and using my email account as a notes system, but that's not ideal at all.

I've heard that OneNote from Microsoft is cool and addictive, but I've not tried it myself.

I've been using google docs more lately and sharing things with others. It's pretty cool.

Yea Google docs has been BIG for my business partner and I...as well as the video chat in GMail.

yes.
I'm anal about it.
Right now we are having a bunch of work done at the house, so it is kind of a mess. It drives me crazy having things where they aren't supposed to be. Arrrgghh.

That does look pretty cool. I might have to give that a try.
