Well Houston and Elvis Dumervil both got 17 sacks. But I'm sure Houston will break the 20 sack mark.

I'm rooting for him, too. The guy is going to cost an arm and a leg anyway. He's already proven that he'll be worth every penny. Pay this man.

Yep. I mentioned prior to the season letting both him and Alex play without new deals this season and let them prove themselves.

Well, Justin Houston has proved himself. Big time. We may as well root for him to ball out the last two weeks, because like you said, he's already gonna be an expensive buy.

That being said, if the Chiefs don't find a way to keep Houston here long term, that may be the final straw for me. I may walk away.

3 sacks each game breaks the record and gets paid.

Next 5 years he averages 6 sacks.

InChiefsHeaven 12-17-2014 07:45 AM

He'll get one vs. Steelers, and 3 vs. Rivers at Arrowhead. He'll get the Chiefs record but not the NFL record.

Hope I'm wrong. Here's to back to back 3 sack games...

If I accidentally bumped into that guy at the bar and he said "I'm going to follow you home and beat you to death with your dog" I don't think I'd go into smart ass mode. There's a hint of truth in those eyes.

Can't believe he fell to the 3rd round.

Thank God he liked the pot, and Pioli didn't seem to care. Otherwise, we'd never have the dude.

Chiefnj2 12-17-2014 08:43 AM

He'd have the record if KC had an offense that could actually score quickly and force the opposition to go into pass mode.

6 sacks in 2 games to break Strahan's record? Maybe if he had a monster game against Pitt with 4 sacks or somethin.

It's PFF but still interesting nonetheless:

...Houston has been doing this against all teams this year. He was blanked as a pass-rusher against Denver in Week 2, but after that he has not been held to fewer than three total pressures in a game, and has seven games of six or more pressures. He has 77 total pressures this season, 19 more than any other 3-4 outside linebacker and more than any player in the league not named J.J. Watt.

Let that sink in for a moment. Only J.J. Watt, a player who is playing at an all-time level of dominance, has more total pressures than Houston does this year. Any other pass-rusher you can think of is trailing in his wake. It’s not a case of volume of attempts either. PFF’s Pass Rushing Productivity score measures pressure on a per-snap basis with sacks weighted more heavily, and Houston tops all recognized pass-rushers with a score of 15.7. Better than Watt, better than Von Miller, better than any 4-3 defensive end or interior rusher.

You can make the case that Justin Houston has been the best pass-rusher in the league this season...

...Overall Houston had 10 total pressures in this game from his pass rushing snaps, exactly one third of the defense’s total and significantly better than any other Chiefs player...
PAY THIS MAN!

I wonder if he will still keep his intensity once he gets paid. Remember, this will be his first real payday as he was only a third round pick.

Will he get a check for 15 million dollars and stay focused on killing quarterbacks...or will his focus shift to other things...

They would have to tag him first.

That would get them 2 firsts.

I'd rather keep him.

He's playing for a contract

And what gives you the idea that he won't?
