I'm a Hawkeye fan and I don't remember pimping him for the NFL. I remember pimping him for Heisman because he had a monster Sr. year.

I haven't seen enough of Tate - there's plenty of time.

A lot of people were pimping Banks for the Heisman, and justifiably so. He had an amazing senior year, with a ridiculous TD to INT ratio. Unfortunately, the bowl game showed that the right guy probably won it.

Put me on the David Green bandwagon. Solid arm, good presence in the pocket, etc. With the right QB coach, he could do very well !

Beating Baylor shouldn't make a damn bit of diff. They should fire this HC's ass and pull a football's version of the Johnny Orr hiring. Enough is f@#^ing enough. :banghead:

He says Tate isn't the best QB on the team.....Manson is, by far(according to him)........

Then why is Manson not starting?

Who was the highly touted QB recruit with the big name?

Politics.

I don't know.........I'm only going by this guy's opinion on that. Tate has looked better each week.......but in fairness.......he is using his #5 RB and the Line was battered early, and has lost like 8 players to the NFL in the past 2 seasons.

Because the "friend that works for the team and is friends with some of the players" is more specifically probably the jock-strap washer that has a man-crush on Manson.

That, or he knows more about football than one of the most respected young coaches in NCAA football. What does Kirk Ferentz know about QBs? He's only produced a Heisman finalist and one the top (statistical) QBs in Iowa's history in the last two years.

I have to weigh in on several things here:

1) Manson is not a better QB than Tate. Roy, your friend is watching them in practice and judging them on physical ability. It's no doubt Manson is much closer to Brad Banks than Tate. But Tate has a mentality and the intangibles that Manson will never have. He re-wrote the record books in high school -- he's the most prolific passer in Texas 5A history. That's Texas. That's 5A. His dad is a coach -- he grew up learning football. How many sophomore QB's have 4 straight games where they hit AT LEAST EIGHT different receivers?

2) Everything he's done so far has really been with a makeshift offensive line and no running game.

2) Drew Tate is not too short to play in the NFL. He's 6'0". He's the same size as Drew Brees.

3) Seneca Wallace is the midget. He was also a Suck-lone, not a Hawk. Brad Banks was the Heisman runner-up, but I don't think any of us Hawk fans were pimping him for the NFL -- most of us, I believe, said he wasn't suited for the NFL, and we were right.

JSP....

I'm not there, I don't know. He's not a coach, but not a jock washer either.

I'll say that he also talked about what other players were saying, and it had alot to do with work ethic, attitude and respect of the other players......He said that Tate is a spoiled Prima Donna.........but funny enough.......Schlicker was worse.

i don't know...I'm not at practice........I'm sure the coaches do what they think is best. I like Ferentz and think he's a good coach, and knows alot about player potential, particularly Oline.

I mean.....we all know that NFL coaches like Vermeil never make personell decisions that the fans and other players might not agree with.

I'm in the Tate= Drew Brees crowd. I'm not biatching. I just wish a RB could last more than 2 quarters without going down.

The guy has been reliable before with insider stuff.............He knew Sapp was gone from IA before the news did.........and why.

Hoover 10-22-2004 02:10 PM

He looks like Jeff Garcia when playing to me.

Iowanian 10-22-2004 02:12 PM

I hadn't notice him walking bow legged with wrists limped down on the way to the line?

I keeeed I keeeeed.

That would make for a much smoother transition for the QB position. Both have the same last name.;)

Brianfo 10-22-2004 03:35 PM

Drew Tate sucks

Put down the crack pipe about Drew Tate playing in the NFL. Get real. Seneca Wallace and Sage Rosenfels are both better NFL propects than anyone to ever come out of Iowa. Iowa fans always have blinders on. Never give any credit to anything but the Squawkeyes!!!!!!!!!

Hmm...

That sounds like the bitter fan of a team that hasn't won a conference game in almost 2 full years...

htismaqe 10-22-2004 03:44 PM

BTW, Suck-lone Fan,

If you were to do a search, you'd find that almost EVERY Hawkeye fan on this board universally agreed that Seneca Wallace was a better NFL prospect than Brad Banks.
