Yep, even at his age he is better than anyone we have now except Bell. My question is what aren't we looking at Sharper? Then again, I was asking myself the same thing last year about Trotter...:hmmm:

Yep after watching pently of Texans games the past few seasons I have been thinking the same thing. He is still in his prime at 30 and is a stout tackler. I have always thought he was one of the better LB's out there and am kind of suprised the possibility of him changing teams has been so quiet.

His cap number is brutal if he is traded straight up for but I he works out an new contract it wouldnt be a problem.

That cap number is not a problem anymore since the TEXANS released him. The TEXANS said he lost a step, well not publicly, but the sports talk radio here in Houston has said as much - so take it for what it's worth. IMO, the reason was that he was such a high cap number and he didn't want to regenotiate his deal. Still, even if true and he as lost a step, Sharper is a solid tackler and that's something the CHIEFS _efense could certainly use.

The only way we cut him is if he won't re-structure to free up the ability to sign Sharper.. The Seahawks prefer to keep both..

Chad Brown is likely to be released if Jamie Sharper signs with the Seahawks.
Brown, 35, has been unwilling to renegotiate his contract, which calls for $4.2 million next season. Somewhere, Bill Belichick and probably Bill Cowher are waiting to pounce on the fiery leader. He's their type of player. Apr. 9 - 11:06 pm et

Jamie Sharper wrapped up a two-day visit in Seattle, and his agent will talk deal with the team throughout the weekend. The Seahawks could have the desire and means to offer Sharper the best contract on the market. He'd play middle linebacker. While we'd downgrade him somewhat from his Houston days, Seattle is an ideal landing spot for him. Apr. 9 - 11:04 pm et

I didnt realize he had been finally cut. I also agree in that i feel it was his high cap number that lead to him being let go. IIRC he was still on the bad contact that lead to he being available in the epansion draft in the first place.

I think he is still a badass LB that just didnt fit in the Texans long term plans. They could have kept him around next season but its not like he would have made the difference in them going far in the playoffs or anything. I think they are still a building team but i also think they can be competitive next season.

Depends on where you set the bar...

Here is the question that matters: Is he an upgrade over what we have now?

Barber will not play until October. Fox or Caver, anyone? I would prefer Simmons or Sharper, but Brown may turn out to be our best option.

Still horrified at the OLB situation.
