1280x1024 please :D Who uses 800x600 anymore?

morphius 05-03-2005 08:50 AM

Yeah, this is one of the things that I thought that Chiefsplanet needed to step up on and have an area for wallpapers created by planet members.

Wouldnt that fall under The Planet Picture Section? I've made some in the past and posted them there but as soon as I did, the whining about size, "It's too big!" or, "It's too small" started.

I had thought about that, but that really isn't a place to store 1280x1024 and larger images. Plus anything bigger then that 8x6 resolution has to be stored on someone else's site and linked to the planet. Plus I don't think thread and posts are the best way to display a growing list of wallpapers.

JMHO though, which means a little less then that lint that seems to find that way into your belly button on a daily basis.

Wallpapers is the entire reason I created the picture forum. FWIW.

Maybe I can find a way to bypass the size limitation for the pictures forum.

Okay then, I'm just going back to my regularly scheduled belly button flint alone time.

I've always preferred straight up photography for my desktops, hence my massive collection. I don't like text on my wallpapers.

By any chance, do you still have those great post-game wallpapers you created a couple years ago? There's one in particular I'm thinking of that I used for the desktoo wallpaper on my work CPU for months but no longer have a copy of. Please tell me you kept them...

Or you can always let imageshack.com do the work for you.

Tada! Mind you, it's an old wallpaper I made last year (bye bye Blaylock) but it got the point across (I hope).

Imageshack is one of the few gods I pray to.

Well, I just know that Phobia was looking to make the Planet more professional, and linking off of imageshack really doesn't say professional to me.

Its just that just about every fan and team site in the world has some wallpapers, except here. And we have some damn talented people here willing to do them for free, and think it has been kind of sad that we really haven't found a way to really use that to our advantage. I think all of us at some point have went out searching for wallpapers of our favorite teams, it is just another avenue to bring fans to our site. Of course that goes into newbies trying to do searches in a picture forum trying to find them, but I'm gonna shutup now, LOL!

On one hand I can see your point. On the other hand, why suck up OUR bandwidth and cause the site to lay down extra cash? It's all about the might dollar my friend. Welcome to 2005. :D

As I said before, I used to do them but when you have people who bitch about size, who's on the wallpaper and basically complain about something they are getting for free after you spend hours on end making what you believed to be a quality product, it tends to make me cut back on doing wallpapers.

Heh. I have no idea. It's probably on the planet somewhere. But, it could be on my PC. I'd have to look.
