Maybe someone here knows this, but someone on the KCStar board posted that Bell himself said he wasn't sure he'd be ready for the opener against NY on 610 AM today. Anybody know if that was true? The poster said they played it over and over...But he was the only one that mentioned it, and nobody questioned it.

Here is the post...

K Bell says himself that he is not sure if he will play Sept 11. It was on 610 radio several times this evening. This all sounds somewhat strange to me. If he is healthy, why are they holding him out? If he is that fragile there will be problems. If they are scared to play him now, what about when he does play in the regular season. We were led to believe that he was healthy when they signed him. He said it himself. He said he could play now. I am not saying we should cut him but this is a very strange situation.

It could be because the question was "which Chiefs injury worries you the most" not which Chiefs player would hurt the team the most if they were unable to play. I think Shields will be fine, Bell on the other hand??

Duh -- Bell of course

Frankly I think if the only injury on offense was Shields we would probably not be that significantly impacted.

Our defense has sucked for three years and Bell was a big big reason for hope for significant improvement. Lose him and most of that hope dissipates.

Rhonda Moss asked him if he would be ready to play 9/11. He said he wasn't Mrs. Cleo, he can't predict the future (piss-off, you annoy me).

If I recall, when he first came to KC & was asked about his injuries last season. He said he tried to come back to soon & that was a mistake he would not make again.

I think he is the one being overly cautious here. He signed a contract with a lot of performance incentives. It's his dime

The glass vagina of Bell is the most disconcerting up to this point...

bringbackmarty 08-26-2005 06:07 AM

glass vagina means no dick for the chiefs.
This will be vermiel's last year if kendrell bell does not play.

DeepSouth 08-26-2005 06:08 AM

I voted Siavii. I almost picked Bell. However, I feel better about the people that would play if Bell didn't (Fox, Fuijia, Griffin) than I do about the person that would play if Sims goes down. Who is Sims backup anyway?

Kyle401 08-26-2005 08:26 AM

Meh, I'm not worried about any of the Chiefs injuries at this point. I think they will all be healthy and ready to lead us to a 15-1 season on the way to the Super Bowl.

Thanks to Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, and the my good friend Ricky Williams for helping me achieve this state of positive thinking and irrational good cheer.

I think almost all of these guys will play on opening day and beyond. Mitchell might not be on the team, Holcombe will miss the first game or two and Sampson will miss only the first game. The rest of the guys will be fine. If the game were today, they'd play. The team is just protecting them. I don't blame them for being careful.

we're doomed...

bell first
shields second

shields "i don't really know how much i wanna play this year" attitude is what prolly scares me the most.

Yep. My answer might have been Shields if the question was which player would you be most concerned to lose for an extended period during the season due to injury, but Shields current injury doesn't concern me because he says he'll be ready. Bell's injury concerns me more because it is mysterious and because I think he's a key to turning our defense around.

Inspector 08-26-2005 12:29 PM

Bell.

I'm paranoid right now.

Like many others, I think Shields will be ready and probably already is ready. I was worried about his desire earlier this year, but since he has made the definite commitment to play this year I no longer worry. He seems like a real integrity kind of guy who will give it his all when game time comes around.

Lzen 08-26-2005 12:40 PM

I figured this would be a landslide. Bell is a big concern, for sure.
