I think the Chargers have no regrets.. You get P. Rivers, all those draft choices, you are sitting way under the salary cap, starting O and D lineups that make most NFL fans jealous.

I think the Chargers say, thanks Eli, we didn't want you anyway.

You have to wonder though how much is the situation. NY isn't a great place to struggle and it looks like Coughlin might not be the kinda of coach to fix Eli's problems. SD has a lot of talent and a coach that can work with players easier even though he isn't thought of fondly here. If the roles were reversed it might have easily been Rivers the goat and Eli the fine young quarterback. Often when we look back on drafts I think that the time and place doesn't get factored in as it should.

Was there ever a good deal where a team gives up a bunch of draft picks for a certain player? Herschel Walker, Ricky Williams, Eli, etc.
