Let's not rebuild. Let's reload. We've only got overt weaknesses at a few positions.

Hog's Gone Fishin 12-27-2006 10:55 AM

I've always thought you should keep drafting defense, keep your defense young and fast.
Build your offense through free agency with proven playmakers.
I would cut Green now that he's retarted though.

Not Tynes. He's a young kicker with a good leg. He'll get better.

Dante Hall is just fine. Some years he has blockers and some years he doesn't. The coaching staff will look at the video tape and tell him to get upfield quicker, make yardage, not dance so much and not look for the TD so much. He'll get more TDs by not trying so hard to make every return a TD. That seems odd, but true. He'll be fine.

Wesley - cut / trade if possible

Knight - he'd be good to keep for depth, or just cut / trade if possible

Bell - he'd be good to keep for depth if he'd take a pay cut, or just cut him / trade if possible

Hicks - GONE! See ya' buddy.

Turley - probably not worth keeping even for depth

Solari will get better

ST coach - get someone else

Cunningham - I'm still a Gunther fan.

TinyEvel 12-27-2006 11:10 AM

Dee fucking Brown.
And Hicks. And Sims.

And Maybe Ty Law. I'm sick of seeing the game announcers introduce our DBs as "The most experienced, collectively, in the NFL" and then watch teams (like the MOTHERfuckING CLEVELAND BROWNS!!) pass against us.

CosmicPal 12-27-2006 11:13 AM

Cut the whole damn team. Except, keep the youngsters who actually act like they want to play some damn football: Allen, Hali, D.J., Page, and all of the rookies.

Unload the damn house, set an example, and use the money to get motivated players whose motors never quit. Don't overpay them. And then produce another draft as successful as the last one where every player makes the team from the 1st to the Last.

Challenge the assistance coaches to perform better and to get more out of their players or get rid of them too.

I don't think I've ever been so sick of a team's carelessness and neglect at the most important part of the season. Every guy on that team should be down on their knees and embracing Huard for keeping this season alive.

When it comes draft time: Draft nothing but linemen on both sides of the ball. Pick up free agents in all the skill positions, but get the best guys available along both sides of the line for the future.

Most importantly- get guys who NEVER quit on themselves, but more importantly on their TEAM.

I dont see Larry Johnson's name on the list to keep..Cosmic....

are you saying we should trade/release LJ?

The guy doesn't play every down. There is nothing more evident than watching L.J. run with authority and L.J. not giving a shit. When he runs with authority, he runs over people. When he doesn't give a shit, he runs up to the line, rolls alongside the backs of the linemen, and gets tackled by the first guy to touch him.

Don't get me wrong, L.J. is a great back and I'd like to keep him, but he's becoming the next T.O. He's whining about everyone else and he only shows up when he feels like it.

I gotta say, I too see the anger turned to apathy in LJ's running style.

Wile_E_Coyote 12-27-2006 11:39 AM

the dude is more tired than angry. How many carries is he up to now? He has already broken the Chiefs record for carries in a season

Rick 12-27-2006 12:11 PM

GONE

Hicks
Sims
Turley (wait & see what his offseason is like)
Brown
Huard (since Croyle is here)
Walls
Browning
Ron Edwards
Welbourne (Chris Terry might just be a good find)
*if Shield retires Welbourne might stay at guard.
Cruz (is he worth keeping after big injury?)
Gardner
Steve Williams

TRADE FIRST; CUT SECOND

Wesley
Parker

NEW STARTERS

Keyaron Fox
Bernard Pollard
Jarrod Paige
2 receivers yet to be signed
3rd corner yet to be signed
DT from the draft or FA
OT from draft or FA

OTHER THOUGHTS

Green MIGHT have a year left but if the offensive line isn't drastically improved he will fail. Too old to make his own plays, he is an accurate QB in a system like Saunders'----not Solari's. He has always been successful because his pants were never dirty after the game was over in the last 4 years.

Wesley does a great job hitting-------AFTER the catch is made. Paige and Pollard MUST start next year.

Would Ty Law be a 3rd corner????????

Franchise tag Tony G. If there are any takers at that point--what do you do???????

Shields retiring won't kill us as much any more. I've watched him get beat this year much more than normal----if he stays, great.

Chiefs better get themselves a good blocking fullback to help with pass protection.

Thanks, Keitzman.

Look, Gonzalez isn't going anywhere. He is in the Derrick Thomas pantheon of Carl Peterson successful draft picks, and will most likely retire a Chief. No way Carl lets him walk.

And besides, if he DOES walk, I'll bet a hundred bucks that Gonzo would end up with Marty in San Diego. How much fun would that be, trying to gameplan for LaDanian Tomlinson, Antonio Gates, and Tony Gonzalez?

el borracho 12-27-2006 12:17 PM

I would cut the following:

OT- Bober, Turley and Welbourne (and Shields probably retires)
WR- Gardner
DT- Sims
DE- Hicks
QB- Huard
RB- Brown
S- Knight
CB- Sapp

In order for this to happen, the Chiefs would have to draft at least two Olinemen early and probably have to slide one of our extra tackles over to guard. We would also need to draft either a DT or a WR early to improve ourselves there which leaves the second day of the draft for a WR or DT (whichever we don't take early), a DE, a CB and a S. All possible as long as Peterless doesn't do anything stupid.

Thats what NE would do.
