Kyle,
My cousins were boating in Smithville and seen Steve Bono and his family 5 or 6 years ago, and they said he (Steve) always had a stupid look on his face but was pretty nice. CG not really a celeb, but a... you finish the rest... lol! |
Kyle...
IMO, there will never be a greater time for the NBA than during the 80's Lakers/Celtics rivalry..... I enjoyed seeing Mike kick the crap out of Isiah and Lambier also, but the game and 80% of the players today are just not for me.... I sat at the table when Jerry West and a few old timers had this very conversation.... You could tell it just broke his heart... |
Have you guys ever met Joe Montana?
CG he's my favorite football player of all time! not to mention the best QB of all time! |
For the muscleheads of the board... I was part owner of a fitness center here, and the only benefit (aside from the obvious T & A hotties) was meeting "celebs".... Lord knows it was a financial nightmare I'm still dealing with.
Got to meet: * Nassar [great guy] * Flex Wheeler [honest to God, the man can barely read and write] * Dorian * Shawn Ray [A-hole] * Mike Matzaratto * Lee Priest * Chris Cormier [We're still good friends] and a slew of "female" bodybuilders that I'd just as soon not mentally imagine again. Funny story: Me, Chris, and Rico McClinton were on the exercise bikes, shooting the breeze more than anything when all of a sudden, the most foul odor I have ever smelled hits us dead on..... we all give Chris crap because he is always dropping bombs where ever he goes. Anyway, Chris is laughing and denying it, so of course we ride him more.... I ask "what crawled up your butt and died dude?" As soon as I say that... Sharon Bruneau, who was just the hottest babe in the fitness world at the time, turns around from the treadmill she was on, very pissed off and says to me... "it was me allright, I'm on a high protein diet and can't help myself".... We just split after that very quietly. I can't look at a pic of her now without reliving that smell and battling a gag reflex. |
LOL! HB!
CG thats some sick shhhhh! |
Bob Dole urinated next to Joe Montana at Tomfooleries.
Does that count? |
I hope you were in the restroom Senator!

Flyin,
That's hilarious about S.B....I will never see her the same again... |
I can only think of a few brushes with fame:
Dennis Miller - say what you will about his commentating skills, I think he is one funny guy Nick Lowery - swooped in on my wife (then girlfriend) while she was on her way to the bathroom at the Cheesecake Factory. Rod Stewart - rode out to Hawaii on the same jet. That hair could belong to no other man... Oh yeah, one of my groomsmen was in the movie Men of Honor with Cuba Gooding Jr. and DeNiro |
I said hello to Major Astro once...
xoxo~ gaz somewhat intimidated on this thread. |
Growing up in Bloomington I have a good handful of friends and ties to the basketball and football programs...I've been in Bob Knight's house with him decked out on the couch when I was a kid...Use to be pretty good friends with Maxwell College Football Player of the Year, Anthony Thompson...Should have been the Heisman, gawd damned dirty rotten Andre Ware...

I stood in line, waiting for a table, at Macaroni Grill in Overland Park a few years ago with George Brett. He was given absolutely no preferential treatment. I was shocked as hell, that he didn't get seated right away, until I said something to the guy taking names. He didn't even notice that Brett was there. George seemed like a nice guy.

I used to work for AMC and once a year they would do these fund raisers which hosted a "celebrity" guest for an evening. At 3 of these events, I got to meet:
1. Joe Montana 2. Kareem Abdul Jabar 3. Walter Payton Walter Payton was by FAR my favorite. He sat and talked with us for hours before he went on, just like he was one of our friends. I will never forget it. The others didn't really seem to have an interest to be there, they just seemed like thier agents asked them to be there for publicity. Oh, well... can't please everyone I guess. |
I've got a couple of weird ones for you all.
1983...I worked in the Sporting Goods department of Montgomery Wards in the Metro North Mall (KC). Darrell Porter (Former catcher for KC Royals/St. Louis Cardinals) used to come in all the time for various stuff. Sold him exercise equipment and mixed a few gallons of paint for him. Cool guy. 1988...Stationed at Mather AFB (Sacramento CA). A certain 49ers QB frequented a few clubs there and always had a little hottie in a corner booth (not his wife Jennifer). Some of the biggest bodyguards I've ever seen in my life. NOBODY got autographs. Period. |
