I don't mind a lot of their players, especially from 5+ years ago (although Wojo and Chrissy Collins can eat my ass). There are 2 things that people hate about Duke: 1) the national media's obsession with all things Duke. Last year the team underachieved and yet the media was lauding what a great coaching job K did with what little talent he had. The media didn't mention that most of the team were McD's All Americans coming out of high school. And 2) Coach K is a whiny little bitch. He pisses and moans about every single call made against his team and tends to pout and sulk when his team is not playing well.

And lets not forget that jagoff Christian Laettner stepping on a prone opponent...

I have been a Duke fan since I was 10 yrs old, roughly 1984. And I can understand why people hate them so much. Any team who wins year in and year out has a lrge number of people who hate them. I would hate them too if I wasn't a fan, so it doesn't offend me when people bad mouth them.

The main reason that I hate Duke is not that they're so good - it's that ESPN, the polls and refs treat the Blue Devils like they're God's gift to basketball.

Duke is always overrated. Teams routinely get screwed by the refs when they play Duke.

But I think the thing that annoys me the most is listening to people slob Coach K's knob for running a clean program. Coack K is a lot of things (great coach, great recruiter, etc), but clean he isn't. After all, Quin Snyder was his No. 1 recruiter for several years. <sarcasm>I'm sure Quin NEVER cheated while he was Duke. Nope, just at Mizzou.</sarcasm>

Billy Packer was the same way with Michigan in the 1990s so I know how you feel.

I have a conspiracy theory on this (why coach K seems to get favorable calls from the refs)....

Since Coach K is part of the same rat family that Mike Shanahan belongs too....they must have some sort of mind-control abilities that influence weak-minded officials and easily impressionable members of the media.

Never understimate the power of the rat!

We should look into this deeper and find other members of the rat family to see how deep this conspiracy goes....

Duke lost their first two games in the '99-'00 season and yet were still in the top 25? Strange. I wonder how many teams have done that.

I don't care for Duke because of Jason Williams a number of years ago. And JJ Redick. Maybe it's not them as much as the way Duke played basketball. I can't stand watching teams with the "we're going to shoot 35 three pointers per game; if we make 20, we're going to beat you" style of play. That's why I never cared for Tejas either.

I think part of it has to do with the 3 point line. I think it's done wonders for college basketball. But, in the same vein, I think it's dumbed down coaching.

Krezewsky doesn't look like much of a coach without JJ Redick, or a bunch of Hamburger AA's. Same with Rick Barnes.

But, I guess the same could be said for just about any coach.

Case in point, Gerald Henderson.

The last minute of the game today perfectly displayed why Duke is unbearable; fouling and calling timeouts down 13 with under a minute left, coupled with a blatant cheap shot that guys like Billy Packer will defend.
