Not sticking with that claim any longer?

Sportscenter says the two teams are good to go, but they've got to hammer out some details regarding Trent's salary.

Gred Bedard of he Palm Beach Post reports that the Dolphins and the Chiefs are still working toward a trade that would send quarterback Trent Green to Miami. The only sticking point? Green's pay in 2007.

He's due to receive $7.2 million, $7.7 million, and $9.2 million in base salaries over the next three seasons. The Fins want to pay him far less than that. Per Bedard, the two sides are "in the same ballpark."

Under the deal, the Fins would send to Kansas City the second-round pick that Miami received from the Patriots as part of the Wes Welker trade. If the deal goes through, it'll be the third straight year in which a second-round pick was given up by the Dolphins for a quarterback.

The acquisition of Green could mean the end of the road for quarterback Daunte Culpepper in Miami, who was acquired from Minnesota last year for the Dolphins' second-round pick in the 2006 draft.

I never cease to be amazed at how incredibly stupid you are. You know this isn't the case. Just got to run over here with wrong news from Warpaint and make it look like you got the scoop. You got the poop. Try again.

Any team giving up a R2 for Green at his age is foolish... and I don't think KC will get more than a R4.

PastorMikH 03-22-2007 07:01 AM

For a second, I'd pull the trigger on the deal. If they can give him OL to protect him, Green would do them a great job for several years to come.

I doubt we get a 2nd for him though.

'Course in Archie's thread, they were throwing around Miami's SECOND SEVENTH round pick. I wonder if a reporter missed part of that statement and just ran with 2nd pick?

:banghead:

Sadly, it appears the Fins have not lost their minds after all. A 7th is more like I would expect. Perhaps they'll make a typo like this on the official paperwork. :)

Several? He has 2 years left in him at best.

I had wondered that myself after reading Archie's thread yesterday.

Probably more important than the pick would be assuring Green doesn't end up in Oakland.
