Ahhh... Ethanol.

Bob Dole used to work for a retailer in KC who was one of the first to switch to a 10% ethanol blend back in the 80's, and you never heard such a pack of b*tching, know-nothing complainers in your life.

Usually the same people that were buying a bottle of Heet at the same moment they were whining about an alcohol blend...

They have us all convinced out here that we need to pay more for everything.

Iowanian 04-30-2001 10:35 AM

$1.69 in Iowania

I screwed up and sold my 30mpg car 3 weeks ago..and now have nothing but a 12mpg(but very cool) F150...

My saving grace is that my family has fuel barrels and we get some gas that is drained from gas tanks of cars being crushed....for $.75/gallon...

It is a mix of everything but only comes from large yards that crush often....I mix it with a 1/2 tank when I'm home....cheapens the trip considerably....thinking about getting a 250 gallon barrel for here...but the local tree huggers and city zoning would probably have a fit.

Davenport, Iowa 1.579 to 1.619

My girlfriend live about 100 miles away, so on the weekend it cost me some major coin to see her. Looks like I'm going to have to cut back on the golf this year.

Bob Dole 04-30-2001 11:06 AM

Would be easier to just cut back on the girlfriend, Hoover.

Get your priorities straight, man.

Phobia 04-30-2001 11:25 AM

Mine is about $1.20

Hoover 04-30-2001 11:31 AM

Senator....

I could not even picture myself without her. We are going to get married next May so the problem will solve itself. I walk to work each day, but on the weekends I put on about 300 miles, and my car only get about 23 mpg. I would chose a different car, not a different girlfriend.

Phobia 04-30-2001 11:32 AM

Hoover's g/f must read the BB sometimes. :)

My car only gets 12-15 MPG.

Hoover 04-30-2001 11:47 AM

Hey, you never know.

Hoover

Iowanian 04-30-2001 12:10 PM

I'm guessing Hoover's GF stole his login and is posting FOR him.....

so nice of her to reveal his sensative side. ;)

mlyonsd 04-30-2001 12:13 PM

Yesterday we paid $1.73 in eastern South Dak.

DenverChief 04-30-2001 12:22 PM

Okay I know this sounds wacky, but I got an e-mail from a friend who was talking about lowering gas prices and how to do it. The idea behind only buying on certain days does not work and we all know it, what we should all do is to boycott the largest oil company exxon/mobil for a long enough period to force them to lower their prices to make a profit. Once they lower their prices we stop the boycott and return to them for the lower prices and that in turn that forces the other companies to lower theirs to compete and we are back to lower gas prices.....for a while anyway....I think it sounds really good but we need to get more people aware and behind this "boycott".
