Less than 2 months & my new PS3 dies... not uncommon
Had my new PS3 (80GB) for 50 days and the blu-ray reader/player crapped out. Sony "Customer No-Service" reps are poorly trained. But despite three frustrating conversations, they mailed me a box and I sent them the unit in their box. Now I get the pleasure of waiting an indeterminable amount of time for a "refurbished" unit to arrive. This problem is all over the internet, yet their reps had never heard about it. Odd. If you have the poor misfortune of getting error code 80010514, look forward to giving your thumbs at least a month (if not 2) of vacation from your favorite games. Other than that  the system is great. Flexible, multifunctional, and amazing graphics on the HD television. Movies are great on blu-ray, but also great on DVD as the console does a wonderful job of upscaling.

FTR i DO read threads. again they are focusing on ps3 but its not 100% .. if it was why would SCEA let so many exclusive deals slip through there hands????? GTA4???? Devil May cry 4????? Assasians creed???? all lost exclusivity rights on the part of Sony. it may take a while for them to do it but thats only b/c its new. im sure each time a new system comes out theres a new learnign curve for each language thats created for that system. its not like every system is coded in VB, C++, HTML, and JAva. they (if im not mistaken) create there own languages just like Nintendo and anyone else in the console business. as developers make more games they will get more familiar with it. also i thin ka direct quote from SCEA (sony) is that the Ps3 is going to have a 10 year (cant remember if it was 10 but its a very long life cycle...i,e, no ps4 for a while) so the games will come its just been slow b/c slow console sales = low attachment rates which then = low profits. supply and demand bro :) more demand shifts the supply and demand curves thus making it a more profitable business scenerio and thus "mo games mo games more....games" ;) :toast: no hard feelings though man. i guess i poorly worded my initial post. heres a cold one for ya :toast: :thumb: |

http://www.engadget.com/2006/12/04/d...nd-the-corner/ Don't bother picking up a PS3, PS4 is right around the corner In response to some fairly bogus claims by an "analyst" last week, Sony has come out of the woodwork to state that yes, it is indeed planning to build a PlayStation 4, but not until at least 2010. Therefore, by taking this quote completely out of context, we have deduced that there's a mere three year wait for some next-next-gen goodness, which can be easily tide over by FFXII, GTA and SotC. However, were we to actually do our job, we would let you know that in the interim Sony is planning on firmware upgrades for the PS3 to expand media center capability, allow third party applications, and to support third party controllers similar to that of the Wii. "To say that there will be no PS4 because of a management change is a bit far fetched," says Paul Holman. He also went on to mention the possibility of a keyboard and mouse bundle with the PS3, predict at least 20 new games for the European PS3 launch, and to tout that schmancy Cell processor under the hood. We're standing by for a PR cleanup crew any moment now. 3 years |
