Make it a 1st next year and let's get it done with.

eazyb81 04-21-2008 01:01 PM

Minnesota has two 3rd round draft picks this year - #73 and #82.

I'm sure the next sticking point will be which 3rd round pick they are offering.

KCUnited 04-21-2008 01:01 PM

Its good, but JA just got to Tampa and they already threw in another pick. I'd sit tight.

Yeah - I know but I figure that the VIKES might. They'll at least be better next year than this. That 2nd rounder next year will be close to a 3rd. I just want the most I can get now - they're getting that - right?

BigRedChief 04-21-2008 01:02 PM

They won't get a #1 and #2 this year. No team is going to do that on top of committing $25-$30 million to JA that they can't get back.

The Vikes 1st and their first 3rd rounder this year and 2nd in 2009 is probably the best deal they will get for JA.

1st and 3rd this year.....2nd and 3rd next year? Then we'd be talking.... ;)

Two first round picks (2008 and 2009) are not worth about 2,000 points. Given that a 1st round pick next year is equal to a 2nd round pick this year, two mid-round 1st round picks are about 1500 points.

Their #17 pick and their 1st 3rd round pick (#73) are combined 1175pts. Add a mid-round 2nd from next year (equivalent to a mid-round 3rd this year) and you get another 195 which gives a total of 1370.

Don't worry. Carl will see if the other teams want to offer more first.

I'm starting to agree.

I wouldn't mind throwing them a mid-rounder if it means one of those picks gets upgraded, though.

Like... They get Jared Allen and a 5th, we get a 2008 1st and 2nd, and a 2009 2nd.

I don't know the math behind it, but I'd like it.

dirk digler 04-21-2008 01:06 PM

I would take the deal in a heartbeat if Carl and Herm weren't running this team

the Talking Can 04-21-2008 01:07 PM

a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for a player is a good deal...3 picks is a good deal...take it

The Franchise 04-21-2008 01:08 PM

I'd take it.

Even though the contract in place is cheap....I don't think that Allen will sign with us. He wants to leave.....take the picks and let him go.

well, sure...I'm just a bit excited

when have we ever been in a situation where teams are bidding against each other for something we have?

this is good

Good in a Soviet Union and Germany arguing about out how to divvy Poland kind of way, perhaps.

Think positive, Rain Man!

What if the Chiefs drafted Chris Long this year, then used that extra 1st, 2nd and 3rd to draft:

A franchise left tackle
A complementary starting wide receiver
A stud offensive guard

Sure, it's optimistic...but it could happen! Jared Allen could be our Jesus Christ! His sacrifice could forgive the sins of Carl's past 19 years!
