I am encouraged that people are stocking up instead of taking to the roads and creating another parking lot like Rita.

Stay safe!

I went down to the Sea Wall today to check it out. I saw Jim Cantori from the Weather Channel right by the Flagship Hotel (For those who don't know it's built on piers and extends out into the Gulf ) - We talked off camera about all the local media hyped hysteria...

Hell, I'm hysterical over the fact that you saw Jim Cantore and lived to tell the tale.

Living on the upper Texas coast I'm pretty used to them. But some folks here in Houston are acting like it's the end of the world. Gas lines, water lines, battery lines, people evacuating when they don't need to & getting in the way of those that do, etc...I've had everything I need for the better part of a week now, mainly because we just went through it last week with Gustov. Ike was out there, everyone knew it could come our way, so why not prepare early??? Oh well, it's gonna get interesting...

I just saw on the news where the governor said if you do not evacuate it will be kill you. 22 foot surges which was the same as Katrina surges. Sorry but the thought of a 22 foot wall of water coming at me would be enough for me to get the hell out of dodge. Galveston is really in danger.

I have also heard gas will be about 5 bucks a gallon tomorrow.:cuss:

Hell the stores did not pay the higher price for what they have in the ground tonight. This pisses me off.:cuss::cuss:

Does GoChiefs live in Houston or a discreet suburb?

You may damn well be kilt, GC.

As another group from Houston once said

Is it the one I beat for five thousand dollahs?
Thought he had 'caine
But it was Gold Medal Flour

Galveston - yes! Especially the west side of the island because there is no sea wall there. Houston - not so much - especially areas like Sugarland, Katy, Bellaire etc which will be west of landfall. Certainly not " certain death" danger...
With regards to the price of gas tomorrow - I filled up all my vehicles before the storm. We'll see what happens...

No. I was in a silver Ford Esacpe and was parked about 100 yards up the beach on the wall in front of the San Loius Resort. I saw him right after he got back from Surfside. I saw a film crew by the Flagship and walked over there. We talked for a good 15 minutes. Then he did another "live shot" and headed back to Surfside. We tried to keep a group of idiots from acting like reeruns behind him. For the most part, we were successful.

Good luck to you Tex. Maybe when it's coming ashore you can take some pics and post them for us and give us some insight in to what a hurricane is like.

Thanks - will try. The worst part is gonna be afterwards when there is no electricity for awhile. I was without power for 3 days in '83 after Hurricane Alecia. Some of the area was without power for several weeks. THAT really sucked because there was a heat wave right afterwards. The "good" thing about this is it's supposed to be cooler afterwards. Still - they said that it could be weeks until power is restored in some places...

Good Luck to you Tex!

Its funny, there is even a little bit of hysteria going on here in San Antonio. HAHAHAH

We went to get some D siz batteries the other night for one of my kids toys, and they were all sold out due to people stocking up for flashlights. Good grief......we will get some rain here, but hardly anything to be hysterical about.

kcvet 09-12-2008 08:04 AM

gas prices will go up now.

Texans are a bunch of pussies, I swear. We get a tiny bit of snow and people act like it's THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW.
