I thought the MS ads were an attempt to deflect some of the 'evil empire' reputation and cast themselves as 'not the PC guy from the Mac ads'. Clumsy execution.
|
When are the f***ing dudes from the Mac and PC ads going to die?
Thos things have been running like Eleventyfive years now. And they aren't humorous at all. |

The same day that the Sonic guys die in a fire. |
At least it's better than the "DUDE! You're getting a DeLL!!" moron.

Word is, they're going to attempt to parody the Mac ads now.
Do they truly forget the adage, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"? If you're not worried about Mac, do your own thing. That's why I liked their Seinfeld ads. But, alas, it seems they are worried. |
It seems like every 6 months Apple ups the "how much a commercial can suck" ante and never fails to overachieve.
Now we can argue the nuances of the Windows/APPLE "how much your adds blow" debate for years... |

Their PC vs Mac ads leave much to be desired since they started. However, their product ads are among the best. |

I still hate their (newer) iPod and Mac commericals... |

Speaking of Sonic, one finally opened up here in August. There had never been a Sonic within 150 miles of Chicago before, yet they've advertised enough that everybody's heard of them. My wife always drives me nuts wanting Sonic whenever we go to Missouri - of course, to me, it's just friggin Sonic - I've eaten at them all my life - who cares? But when they opened the new one up here, they had cars lined up for hours before it even opened, and the wait was HOURS LONG, all day, for weeks. They actually had to snake two lines of cars (one for parking, one for drive-thru) through a nearby parking lot. All that over a friggin Sonic. :spock: The wife was pestering the hell out of me to take her there, but there was no way I was going to wait two hours for a damn cheeseburger. We finally went one night when it was pouring rain and were able to get in. Never underestimate the power of (apparently very) effective marketing. |
