I thought that was some of the best QB play we have seen in a few years. I just hope it wasn't a fluke.

even if Thigpen is great you still draft a guy

This.
I don't EVEN want to go into next season with Huard and BC on the roster.

ClevelandBronco 10-26-2008 02:24 PM

What choice do you have? You give him every game left this season to see if he's a legit #2.

If he plays this way all year, he's the # 1 going into next year.

I said IF

Yeah, but you still draft a QB in the top three rounds next season.

Deberg_1990 10-26-2008 03:40 PM

If he plays well the rest of the year, if im the GM, i still take a Qb #1 overall next year.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-26-2008 03:43 PM

You give him the next 25 games. After that, you hand the reigns over.

JohnnyV13 10-26-2008 03:53 PM

If he plays well for a game or two more, don't be surprised if he then has a bad streak. By then, D coordinators will have more film on him and might find tells to jump his routes.

Even then, you will have to give him more starts to adjust. The guy has some good physical tools. Today he showed accuracy. We should be VERY encouraged by his play. This performance was better than most of Brady's early starts.

You're absolutely correct. IF.

I mean long-term #2. I just doubt that he's the Chiefs' QBOTF, but strange things happen in this league.

If the kid can play, let him do the seemingly impossible.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-26-2008 03:58 PM

Has Callahan been working with the QBs?

SDChief 10-26-2008 03:58 PM

He looked like a different guy today. If he can play like that he will have a roster spot for sure, but Huard is going to be gone, maybe Croyle too, you have to draft a QB on the first day no matter what. He could be a Derrick Anderson type and come out of nowhere, but the Chiefs will have to use a pick on a QB no matter what.

JuicesFlowing 10-26-2008 04:03 PM

I'm not sold on one game, but he played good today. I'd still like to see Dr. Quinn, but if Thigpen has arrived, ride it.

All true. This was a great game and an encouraging moment. If he keeps it up, I'll really be on the kid's side. He's coming out of nowhere.

A career as a starter for a while then as a good #2 for a few years is more than even Thigpen himself should have hoped for.

Good luck, Tyler.

you still draft a QB even if thigpen is balls the rest of the way. let them compete for the job.

Silly response. If he plays most games like he did today, there's no WAY you draft a QB high. Simply no way.

Obviously that's as big an "if" as you can possibly get, but it's possible.

But you're talking about a guy completing 66% of his passes at a good YPC average with a couple TDs and no turnovers, and if he was to average something like that for the rest of the year, there's absolutely no doubt that he gets another year.
