I really do wish him well. Think he's a good guy.

Mr. Laz 01-23-2009 08:27 PM

being a defensive backs positional coach is probably just where he belongs.

that's one of the biggest things Pioli can do is for us to stop putting coaches and players higher than they belong.

if a player should be a backup then lets make sure he's a backup
if a coach should be a coordinator, then dammit, make sure he's a coordinator or lower

Bwana 01-23-2009 08:28 PM

Hey, as long as he's gone, I don't give a rats ass where he ends up. The only other thing I can say is....................The poor bastards.

Yep. I remember Skip always talked about the "Peter Principle" when it came to Herm. I actually had to look it up... it fits.

Just think... 2 years ago the Chiefs had essentially a defensive backs coach as a head coach (Herm), an offensive line coach as an offensive coordinator (Slowlari) and a linebackers coach who is somehow still getting a job as a defensive coordinator (Goonther).

That is Exhibit A of the Peter Principle

Well, we got the two Brandons' & Maurice Leggett from his DB expertise so it wasn't all for naught.

See Norv Turner as an example. Good OC, horrible HC.

I'll give Herm props for not needing an explanation and taking it like a man.

More than likely he didn't want to hear his utter failure recapped, though.

I'm completely convinced that Herm's a stand up guy. An all-around genuinely good man.

As a person, it's hard not to like him. As a coach? Ehhhh...

He was just over his head.

Well, he's not that stand-up. He never took the blame for anything.

That's why I give him props for this. He didn't throw anyone under the bus...unlike Gunther.
