This.

Especially this after I lost a couch by those a##clowns, they pick it up fix it on warranty and have record of picking it up but no idea where they placed it. Got $700 in credit after the wife was done with the them. (The couch was only worth $300)

What am I missing here? You lost your couch and then got $700 for a $300 couch? That doesn't sound bad to me

bevischief 11-11-2009 07:47 PM

Where did you buy the couch from?

Donger 11-11-2009 07:49 PM

It wouldn't even have occurred to me that one should tip furniture delivery people.

And I'll hate doing it.

If I was president, the first thing on my agenda would be to make tipping illegal. Tipping is the worst thing that ever happened to this country.

If you did that, you'd have to increase the minimum wage.

With the cost of wages increasing, the cost of food increases.

So we'd end up paying anyway.

In the big picture, it makes little difference, since most don't tip furniture dlivery people, but the delivery charge isn't going into the delivery people's pocket.

I disagree. In England, they decided that the tip should be just rolled into the bill regardless of service, so they created some tax to cover it. As most intelligent people predicted, for some weird reason, the quality of service got worse.

The furniture place I got our couch and love seat from wanted $75 to deliver it. I ended up just picking it up, but no way in hell would I be tipping on top of a charge like that.

This is a good point. If you're paying a delivery fee, I wouldn't tip. Sorry pops, they should start their own moving company if they're making $9 an hour on a $75 delivery.

Okay, okay, it's anti-capitalistic on the surface. After meeting with my policy advisors, I have changed my position so that instead of making tips illegal, all tips will be anonymously made to a person via the web. That way, you can tip as much or little as you like without fear of being labeled a cheapskate if you thought the service stank. Right now, the challenge is that any tip below 20 percent means that you can never visit the establishment again without fear of worse service or even reprisal. Because of tipping, I will just tip 20 percent across the board and then not go back to restaurants where I got bad service. Therefore, the restaurant owner gets punished and the server just gets a communistic 20 percent that is fueled by societal pressure.
