Not trying to be a hater. Congrats to the fans and alum of TCU.

Bama and Oklahoma
Alabama and Oklahoma sure weren't laughing when they lost to Utah and BYU respectively.

It's not the fault of schools like TCU, Utah, Boise St, etc. that BCS schools are too scared to schedule them. |

Mountain West is, sadly, pretty bad. TCU makes a great argument for a playoff.

One-hit wonders such as those you cite above are merely exceptions to the rule and are aided in part by not having to suffer the atrition of injury that is the cost of playing an entire big conference schedule. |

Mountain West is NOT an inferior football conference. Anyone who denies that Utah, TCU, and BYU are all good football schools is an idiot. Now is every team in Mountain West a great football school? No, but no conference can say every team is an great football school. The Big 12 and SEC both have their shitty teams. |

However, schools form big time conferences should have points taken away in the BCS if they refuse to schedule the schools mentioned. |
To be fair, the only true one hit wonder was Hawaii a couple years ago. Utah has won a couple BCS games and Boise won theirs. Boise beat Oregon, who could end up being the Pac 10 champ this week. I think Boise and TCU especially would probably contend for the conference title in several major conferences. It'd be tougher and they wouldn't run the table but I wouldn't be surprised to see them in contention for BCS bids.
I just don't think teams they're up against for BCS at-large berths... like Oklahoma State, Penn State, and Georgia Tech are THAT much better. Actually I'm not sure they're better at all. |
