3,800 yds passing, 7.8 yds/attempt, 2-1 TD/Int ratio, passer rating above 90.

With Weis as an OC, in today's NFL that so heavily favors passers, those #s will be what it will take for me to accept Matt Cassel as our starting QB. That makes him right on the fringe of a top 10 QB. I can live with that.

FAX

I'm guessing that Weis also ends up being the QB coach and Haley takes on more of role with the WR's to give him his offensive fix.

So you expect him to be better than he was in NE (89.4 QB rating) when he was throwing to Welker & Moss?

Yes. Essentially, he needs to be something he's not.

CrazyPhuD 01-11-2010 07:44 PM

Jamarcus Russell as his backup

Did a bunch of people really just admit their view of Matt Cassel essentially hinges on the fact that he plays for our team?

Are you saying you don't want Cassel to do well?

That isn't what I said but saying "I expect him to play better cause he's a Chief" is pretty naive.

In all seriousness, if Pioli acquired Cassel thinking he'd seen his ceiling, then the former is dumb as ****.

Cassel should, eventually, have better numbers than he had in NE. "Should" being the operative word. Any takers?

That's not what I was saying.

I'm setting a standard for him.

If he is going to be paid as he is paid, he needs to play better. That is my expectation. That is the standard he has to live up to.

I don't really have a clue if he will.

boogblaster 01-11-2010 07:57 PM

Hopefully Weis and a better Oline can help him ... those two things can't hurt ....

Deberg_1990 01-11-2010 07:58 PM

His upside is Pennington/Plummer. Hooray!

More consistent in hitting receivers in stride and making deep passes more accurately. Quicker release.
