He was VERY passionate about this team, city, Arrowhead's mystique and the fans that help the defense prevail in games. Not too many other coaches since him have been as passionate about that.

I can't bring myself to dislike Gunther.

He's had a pretty odd path to this point in his life and he's as self-made as they come. He's true to himself and he's earned his way to a pretty lofty perch.

Good for him. Now just stay the hell out of KC and we'll be good.

Gunther is a garbage DC. He was a good DC when he had Neil Smith, Derrick Thomas, James Hasty and Dale Carter. If you give any DC 2 stud corners and 2 incredible pass rushers, they are going to look good.

He doesn't have much to work wtih in Detroit? Really? He has one of the best defensive lines in the NFL, and they still can't stop the run. Suh was a ready-made project and I would bet that when Gunther leaves, he will continue to progress.

Every coach in the NFL cares about what they are doing.

I'm glad that loser is far away from KC.

This.

Once Gunther gets "his" guys, everything will be great for Detroit. Outstanding hire.

I've said this before, and I will continue to say it every time the subject of ****her comes up.

No opposing OC did more to contain DT than ****her did.

 I was just getting ready to type this very thing. Was just reading the other posts to see if it had already been stated!

Gunther

First he didn't have his players.

Then he need to move up to the box to see more of the field

Then he needed to be down on the field to see the action

Then on the way out he blames Herm for not allowing him to run his scheme.

Kendrell Bell??? Eric Hicks??? Endorsed by Gunther.

I don't "Criticize Haley at every turn." Not sure where you get that from. I've commented on some of his riverboat gambling decisions (along with just about everybody else on the CP) but I've also wished him nothing but success this year (which he's mostly had) and spoken highly of many of his decisions, especially bringing in this years coaching staff to help.

You're very much a "what have you done for me lately?" kinda guy, aren't you?

You're a "let's relive the glory years of 95-97" aren't you.

Gunther hasn't done anything as a d-coordinator in roughly 13 years.

Gunther sucks.

If he was that mad after what I consider a questionable call, I'll bet his head exploded when Suh was called for unneccesary roughness this weekend on Cutler. That was a horrible call and cost Detroit the game.

My dislike of Gunther is only exceeded by my dislike of Vermeil

This is too true to be just true.

It wasn't that he failed his second time around... it's that he did it, got everything he supposedly wanted, ran his mouth, then took none of the blame when it bombed... then threw both of the head coaches he worked for under the bus. That was a total joke. I think he may be every bit if not more responsible for the failure of the last decade over anyone. I don't know how anyone can respect him. He wasted 5 years of everyone's time... ours, DV, Herm, Carl... everyone, just because he wanted to relive the "glory days." And thanks Carl for letting it happen.

He wasn't a good head coach, but he's a good DC. And no doubt he cares about what he's doing. He just doesn't have a lot to work with in Detroit except Suh.

I like gunther too. I agree, him becoming a head coach was his downfall.
