I know it won't happen but......

11. Mark Ingram | 5'10, 215 pounds | RB | Alabama *
18. Mikel Leshoure | 6'0, 230 pounds | RB | Illinois *
21. Blaine Gabbert | 6'5, 240 pounds | QB | Missouri *
25. Cam Newton | 6'6, 246 pounds | QB | Auburn *

26. Kyle Rudolph | 6'6, 265 pounds | TE | Notre Dame *
34. Ryan Williams | 5'10, 210 pounds | RB | Virginia Tech **
40. Ryan Mallett | 6'7, 238 pounds | QB | Arkansas *
47. Jake Locker | 6'3, 226 pounds | QB | Washington

61. Tyler Sash | 6'1, 210 pounds | SS | Iowa *
65. DeAndre McDaniel | 6'0, 212 pounds | SS | Clemson
71. Jordan Todman | 5'9, 190 pounds | RB | Connecticut *
95. Ahmad Black | 5'9, 185 pounds | SS | Florida

The thought of these four being eliminated makes me angry.....We need a backup QB so what's wrong with drafting a backup that could be a franchise even if you already have your franchise guy? Someone pointed it out on another thread, but Favre/Rogers situation sounds good to me. Even if Cassel isn't Favre.

We don't need? It's not a 1st round need but a guard is most certainly a need.

I think Asomoah can bring some of that same mobility, and he can get stronger, to be a more effective guard in the power run game in short yardage situations than we have at this point, but Lija is maxed out in that.

I wouldn't use a first round pick on a guard, but we can certainly improve.

If there's value late in the draft (5-7), I'm on board. Value and need should suggest we go other directions early, IMO.

Why? We've got Waters coming off a Pro-Bowl, Lilja is a very effective guy, Asamoah looks promising and Albert should be a great guard when he's given the chance this next season.

Four quality guys for two positions? I don't see that as a so much of a need.

Saccopoo 02-12-2011 12:22 PM

You know what's really odd about this list? That the only first round potential guys that were theoretically interviewed by the Chiefs at the Senior Bowl were two offensive linemen (Costanzo and Watkins) and a potential defensive end (Jordan). And then the second round guys were also offensive linemen and another defensive end. (O'Dowd, Pinkston and Ballard.)

It's to the trenches boys! You win the game in the trenches.

However, I was excited about the fact that they also spoke to Devine and Jock Sanders. We are going to be like a swarm of angry bees on the field with a bunch of 5'7" scat backs all over the place. Did anyone hear if they spoke with Jacquizz Rogers as well? *crosses fingers*

Lilja and Waters got bitchslapped as much as anyone on the line this year, Sac.

That post had nothing to do with the Chiefs, he's just a legend.

Hmmm...so we've got two unproven, but potentially talented guards in Albert and Asamoah and two other guys who have large and numerous cubic zirconia indentations on their cheeks...

You know, I thought that Asamoah played left tackle better than anyone else when he stepped in for Albert this past season. Maybe we should just have those two switch positions. Asamoah can start at left tackle and Albert can be the rotational backup player on the line taking unrestricted free agent Seamus O'Murphy's role. Then we can draft a right tackle, center and a guard.

The line would look like:

LT: Asamoah
LG: Lilja
C: Draftee
RG: Draftee
RT: Draftee

Our draft would be something like:

1. Gabe Carimi, OT; Wisconsin
2. Rod Hudson, OG; Florida State
3. Austin Pettis, WR; Boise State
4. Zane Taylor, C; Utah
5. Ian Williams, NT; Notre Dame
5. Tom Keiser, OLB; Stanford
6. Scott Tolzien, QB; Wisconsin
7. Robert Hughes, FB; Notre Dame

Shit...this started out being facetious, but that's actually a pretty nice draft for the Chiefs. Really nice. Nope. Not a single complaint if that's how the draft ended up for reals.

Jesus Christ Sac. Die.

Albert is a terrible run blocker/Sac
He'll be a great G/Sac

Those don't seem to line up in my mind....

It's why I have him as the rotational backup now versus starting on the line.

Asamoah never played left tackle this year.

You are talking out your ass.

I thought when Albert went out that Richardson played LT...

Yep, and it was a disaster.

SAUTO 02-12-2011 04:35 PM

He may be thinking about the big unit. Three tackles.
