"the eye in the sky doesn't lie"

For the most part, I think that's what GMs do.

The combines might influence their decisions when they have two guys rated virtually equal.

Not to mention all the interviews you get to do. I'd bet those are more important that all the on the field stuff they do.

Ryan Bartholomew, C, Syracuse, 6'1" 302lbs:

Put up 34 bench reps (most so far). Expected to be a late round or UDFA.

Point of interest: He was a team captain.

I don't know anything about his playing abilities, anyone familiar have an assessment on him?

Gabbert was 6'4" and 3/8, 234 pounds with 10" hands
Newton was 6'5" 248 with 9 7/8" hands

No tiny hands jokes from Saccopoo this year.

When they measure hands, is it from wrist to tip of middle or is it from tip of thumb to outstretched tip of pinky (i.e. diagonal)?

Isaiah Thompson from Houston just run a 6.04 40.

We may have the first guy who Eisen can outrun.

'Hamas' Jenkins 02-26-2011 03:15 PM

Julio Jones, who was listed as 6'4" at Alabama, measured 6'2" and 3/4. That can't help someone who isn't a burner.

AJ Green only measured 6'3" and 5/8

Rodney Hudson really stuck out today with the agility drills

During an interview in Indianapolis at the NFL combine on Thursday night, an unidentified team cracked the poise former Auburn quarterback Cam Newton tried to display while meeting with the media Saturday, a league source said.

According to the source, an NFL assistant coach questioned Newton about why he disobeyed his coach's orders in the BCS National Championship Game. Newton ran a quarterback sneak toward the end of the game rather than take a knee as he was instructed.

Newton was not expecting the NFL to ask him about the incident and did not have a favorable reaction, according to league sources. He got defensive, sources said.

Asked about the interviews, Newton said, "Each and every team keeps you on your toes."

Newton has remained confident in the face of questions about his relationship with his father Cecil.

Cam has said his relationship with his father is good, months after a controversy involving Cecil called Cam's eligibility at Auburn into question.

The NCAA ruled in December that Cam was unaware of the pay-for-play scheme created by Cecil and the owner of a scouting service. Cecil Newton and Kenny Rogers -- a former Mississippi State player who worked for an agent -- sought money for the quarterback to play for the Bulldogs.

Newton said Saturday at the NFL scouting combine that the scrutiny helped he and his father become closer.

Newton won the Heisman Trophy and a national championship before declaring himself eligible for the NFL draft.

Adam Schefter is ESPN.com's NFL insider. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

My top D2 player in the draft, Edmund Gates (WR, Abilene Christian. Teammate of Johnny Knox and Bernard Scott, who were both drafted last year), ran a goddamned 4.35 in the 40. Wow, I thought he'd go 4.4. What's crazy is he's a player that is faster as he goes; his 60 yard might be tops in the whole draft.

He might be moving up to the bottom of the 2nd round at this rate. He's nailing his other drills too. Mid-2nd? This guy is ****ing good.

Julio Jones is blowing up the combine...

Honestly wouldn't mind trading up ahead of the rams to take him

I'd like to see Julio Jones's stock drop to the point he's an option for the Chiefs at 21. I don't think it is going to happen though. Jones ran a 4.43 and4.39 (hand timed) in the 40, 38.5 vertical, and 11.3 in the broad jump. Also only missed two catches in the passing drills. Instead of moving down, his stock probably moved up.

Yeah. He disappointed with his size, but he moved into near burner territory. He's probably a top 10 pick now.

Jon Baldwin likely helped himself with his 40 time as well.
