Give the Boar's Head a try they are pretty good. They have a nice casing that gives a good snap when you bite into them.

I buy Hebrew National, but I'll say this about them- they're great when they're hot. Once you let them cool for a minute they taste like a Slim Jim.

Consider yourself lucky. Walking by it is even unpleasant due to the stench and the line of soulless masochists shuffling up for another bag of barely congealed grease.

I DID however, find a street vendor on my way home and got a hot dog from him. It had brown mustard, relish, diced onions, mayo, pastrami, and jalapenos on it. It hit the spot.

I tried the Boar's Head dogs tonight and they weren't nearly as good as National Hebrew. One less thing I have to wonder about in my life.

whichever one is covered in cornmeal.
