Nope....the stats on the website state that he Nicks has 4 receptions for 38 yards. He's saying that we have the power to overturn it because it shouldn't be a catch.

On a second look, one reason they may have taken a penalty is because he was close to being out of bounds....so they made sure they got the 1st instead of having the chance he was still juggling the ball as he stepped out....

Thats the only reason I can think of for taking the penalty there.

That's my thoughts. I still have no ****ing clue why the NFL would come in and give Nicks the catch if there was a penalty accepted. There's no point to it...

The Franchise 09-22-2011 04:16 PM

Yeah....he's stating that they accepted the penalty...so it shouldn't be a catch. And in turn....he should still have the victory.

The Giants declined the penalty, which is why Nicks was given a reception and an additional 23 yards.

New York Giants’ Eli Manning, Hakeem Nicks Credited with 23-Yard Pass & Catch

John Angelillo/UPI/FotoglifNew York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks now has 11 receptions for 160 yards on the season after the NFL credited him with a 23-yard catch that was initially ruled incomplete on Monday night.

The play came on the Giants' first touchdown drive of the game, as Nicks hauled in an incredibly impressive one-handed grab while being interfered with by St. Louis Rams cornerback Bradley Fletcher. Initially, referees ruled the pass incomplete but assessed the 23-yard penalty on the Rams for pass interference, but after watching the tape, the NFL ruled the pass it complete. They gave Big Blue the choice to accept the penalty (as they had originally) or decline it, giving Nicks credit for the reception. Obviously the Giants chose the latter.
This alteration changes Nicks' stat line for Monday night to four receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown. As noted above, it also changes his season stat line to 11 receptions for 160 yards and a touchdown. He will also be credited with a first down, bringing his season total to seven.

In addition to Nicks, this also changes Eli Manning's numbers for both the game and the season. He is now credited with completing 19 of 30 passes (63.33%) for 223 yards, two touchdowns and one interception against the Rams, and completing 37 of 62 passes (60.66) for 491 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions on the season. Like Nicks, he also gets credit for an additional first down and raises his average yards per pass from 7.67 to 7.92 on the year.

If you had either or both players on your respective fantasy teams, you should also be seeing additional credit based on your scoring settings.

If it were me, I would stick with what ever the official stats say. If the official stats say it is a catch, it is a catch, if the official stats say it is no catch, no catch. I don't really understand the debate. If done on pen and paper, without internet and all this technology, I would imagine that is the way it would be done. I don't play fantasy football, but from my understand it is just an accumulation of stats.

BigRichard 09-22-2011 04:22 PM

If your site has the same stats that the NFL has I would tell him to go **** himself and to quit being a little bitch.

The Franchise 09-22-2011 04:24 PM

****ing hell.

Now the two teams that this affected want it put up to a vote by the league.

Ming the Merciless 09-22-2011 04:24 PM

Tell him youll give him his money back if he writes a letter to the NFL and convinces them to take the catch away from Nicks and the yards away from Nicks and also the completion from Eli and the yards from Eli....his check will be in the mail when the NFL changes the records.

Dude there is no vote, they DECLINED the penalty - it is official.

Stats change all the time in the day or two after the game....this guy must be a noob.

The Franchise 09-22-2011 04:28 PM

Thats what I'm telling him.
