I get that the regular season is boring to a lot of people (and even the playoffs to some) but I think the quality of regular season games has gone up in a lot of cases. The Christmas Day games got high ratings and were overall pretty entertaining. The big knock I've heard about the NBA my whole life is "they don't play defense in the NBA". Well now days, that just isn't true for a lot of teams. The good teams DO play defense, or at least give it a hell of an effort. The reason it doesn't always seem that way, is because these are the best ball players on the planet, and they know how to put the ball in the basket. Hard to defend a lot of good players these days without getting a foul called.
I think the main problem with the league is the ticky tack foul calls, particularly on superstar players. Nobody wants to see 80 free throws in a game, when probably half of them weren't really fouls.
