Runescape maybe?

That's a joke right?
Either way - Minecraft is the first openworld, mining, adventure game.

It's been out for a few years now, but in a beta version. The "official" release was last November (per Wikipedia).

AM I NOT MERCIFUL?

Like most computer games, it has some problem solving and creativity, but inferior to putting them in the shop with a hammer and nails for an afternoon.

Hammer and nails are fun for little boys but get real old real fast. Today's play prepares for tomorrow's world and hammer and nails don't teach a whole lot aside from how to be in a dead end job. You might let them play a little more on the computer side.

It's actually a brand new game. It's just that it's more about creativity than graphics. Pretty cool, IMO. Good game for kids. Let 'em go... see what they build.

they've been playing it for a few weeks now, pretty cool what from what I can understand about it. I like that it is building instead of destroying, exploring instead of killing.

I caught that on NeoGaf a few months ago --- so amazing.
They're working on a standalone game with this, last I read.

I've never been able to get into it. Every time I start a new world, I gather some wood, make some tools, and build a little house. But when it comes to night fall, I get bored waiting for the sun to come up so that I can go back outside again.

However, I found Terraria to be super addictive. It has a nice balance of open world exploration, crafting, and goals to work for. I think I've sunk 100+ hours into it.

just purchased this game for my son but he can't log into any servers at all. I've tried from two different computers and even port forwarded 25565. nothing.

can somebody login to minecraft and try to get to multiplayer server mineplex.com and tell me if it is working.

007 10-25-2013 07:22 PM

damnit.

After all this effort it turns out the reason none of the servers are working is becuase they released a new version of the loader today and none of the servers have upgraded yet. JFC
