It's always hilarious to me to watch the reaction of Chiefs fans week to week! If we had won this opener, there would be many people talking about playoffs (playoffs!?) and winning the division! If we win next week, the attitude on the board will be totally flipped! It's especially funny when the team alternates wins and losses for the first few weeks!

Let's take an honest look at the Chiefs schedule! Although we love to hate Cassel and the rest of the team, it is not as bleak as it looks! On the other hand, don't kid yourself into believing that the team is going anywhere, either! It's going to be another season of 7-9, 8-8, 9-7 mediocrity!

Atlanta Falcons L

at Buffalo A close game but a L
at New Orleans Most likely a L, but they aren't invicible as shown by Washington!
San Diego A win for sure!
Baltimore A tough game but I will say this is a win as well!
at Tampa Bay Three wins in a row!
Oakland Four wins!
at San Diego Road loss
at Pittsburgh Another road loss
Cincinnati Easy win
Denver Another win
Carolina Three home games, three wins
at Cleveland Road win!
at Oakland Loss on the road
Indianapolis Easy win
at Denver Loss on the road

Now it becomes clear that the Chiefs will end up 9-7 as always! Don't get all excited when we put together those 4 and 3 game winning streaks either!

Remember that teams don't always win the games they're "supposed" to win, and they don't always lose when they're "supposed" to either. So some of these will go the other way. But in the end, it's going to be something like this. 9-7, 8-8 or 7-9. Another ho-hum Chiefs season, and Cassel will remain the starter in 2013!

Exclamation point! Can you hear me?! I am stressing EVERY point!

no homer!

I like your never-say-die attitude. We can take Atlanta. All we need is a good second half.

Kansas City has to sell out for a quarterback next April. The NFL has seen rookie quarterbacks come in and make a big difference for their teams. It happened last year with the Bengals' Andy Dalton and Panthers' Cam Newton. It looks like it could happen again this season with Robert Griffin III and the Redskins. The Chiefs have a talented roster, but they need a quarterback that can push them over the top.

It was somewhat understandable for Kansas City to lose to Atlanta in Week 1. The Chiefs' defense was down four starters with two other starters playing hurt. Every player is expected to be back healthy. However, Kansas City quarterback Matt Cassel blew any chance for his team with two interceptions and a fumble in the second half. He should be a backup quarterback, and if the Chiefs win the AFC West, it will be in spite of their signal-caller and not because of him.

Not only does Kansas City have a solid set of starters, it has good depth on the roster. Thus, I think the Chiefs should be aggressive and be willing to deal some second-day picks in order to move up for a quarterback. Arkansas' Tyler Wilson, West Virginia's Geno Smith and Virginia Tech's Logan Thomas would all be candidates for the team to consider. If Kansas City can find an upgrade at quarterback, the team has the pieces in place around the signal-caller to make a run in January.

Admittedly, I don't follow CFB much.

I do recall watching Va. Tech's bowl game last year.

Logan Thomas has great size and a great arm. I mentioned his name in draftplanet.

what's the planet consensus on this guy?

Realistic outlook on the Chiefs. I can see this team winning a bunch of games this year. On the other hand when we play good teams Cassel will piss down his leg. The Defense is better than they looked yesterday. But even if they play lights out, Cassel can find a way to lose against good teams.

He can't handle any type of pressure.

Best case scenerio: KC goes 10-6 or 11-5 and edges out the AFCN 3rd places team for the 6th seed in the playoffs. KC WILL NOT win the division because....

The entire AFC boils down to just 2 games this season. The first game takes place on October 7th when New England hosts Denver. The outcome of this game will have an effect on the 2nd game as the winner of this game will host the rematch on January 20th.

Deberg_1990 09-10-2012 04:37 PM

Realistic outlook for the Chiefs.

We start off slow...maybe 2-4 or 2-5. CP implodes. They get hot for a few games during the middle of the season. Get back to around 5-5 or 5-6. Gives everyone false hope. We end the season around 7-9 o 8-8 just barely missing a wild card slot on the last game of the year. We end up picking around 16th or 17th taking a MIddle LB or defensive lineman.

Nothing surprising about this week's game! I guess the score was not as close as I expected though.

Next week the Chiefs will most likely lose again New Orleans. On the other hand the Saints seem to suck this year and so it could be a possible win.

Overall, I maintain my prediction for a 7-9, 8-8, 9-7 season!
