Why would anyone want a GM of a team that is so starved for a QB fired when rookie QB Russell Wilson (whom was picked one pick after we took Donald Stephenson) led a fourth quarter come from behind victory against Pioli's beloved Patriots today? It makes no sense.

That was sarcasm, you freaking clods.

Wasn't Carl fired in the middle of the season?

No

Carl "resigned" a few weeks before the season was over.

That's not the only way they make money.

If Clark is seriously considering letting Pioli go after the season, I actually wouldn't be surprised if he axed him mid-season. If the GM they decide on is available, it at least allows him a free pass to evaluate the talent for the rest of this year and be more prepared for next year's draft and free agency. Plus, it would allow a new GM the opportunity to sign our free agents that we want to keep. Maybe a new guy would have a better shot at signing Bowe, Albert, Colquit, etc...

I really don't give a shit when he's fired as long as it happens before the next draft. Preferably right after our 16th game ends. If it happens before then, that works too. Clark needs to be lining up our next candidates NOW, if he hasn't already been doing that.

His exit was negotiated with two weeks left in the season.

Curious...when was the last time a team won the Super Bowl that had a head coach that was also the General Manager (or the main decision maker on personnel matters, including the draft room)?

Right, that is the end of, not the middle of the season

cdcox 10-14-2012 08:50 PM

The advantage of doing it early and getting the new guy in place as early as possible is that you can be ready to sign your new head coach. When we transitioned from Peterson to Pioli, we ended up dicking around about whether to keep Herm or not (Hunt's meddling) and ended up late on recruiting our head coach and assistants when the market was quite picked over. We really need to be decisive next time.

Millen got fired after the owner's son publicly said that he'd fire him if he had the authority. I guess his dad listened.

Does Clark have any kids?
