This blows....trolling people with old thread bumps will be much harder now.

If you can code it I'd be more than happy to do it, lol. What you are saying is exactly what I want to do, but would take me a long time to code.

This forum has a warning pop up when you click on a old thread.

It is more a case of pulling the date correctly, getting into the code in the right place, etc, etc. The only part that might be easy is the if statement. Oh, and I would NEVER use blinking though, I think that is an internet sin.

Agree, but blinking is the only way users will notice it the way it is set up now.

check out that second link I posted about a pop up warning when people click on a old thread.

Both of those would be annoying.... I think if people get annoyed with opening old threads, they'll get used to looking at the Start Date. If not, they won't. I don't think it needs to be something that sticks out above everything else, or worse, requires interaction.

Right, I don't want to do a pop-up.

So why change anything? Like I said only a few users are even going to pay attention to that field at all. You will still see the same old thread bumps.

blinking was only an idea. What about just plain color code it? Old threads will show up in red or something.

I'm not sure why this is an issue. Personally, I always open threads via the "go to first unread" icon. If an old thread is bumped, I just immediately go to the new post and it's obvious that it's a bump.

I wouldn't say it is always obvious upon reading the first post from the bump but you can easily figure it out after reading a few more posts.

I'm fine with it. Doesn't really change anything but the look.

I figure that if I don't go to the OP, it's a bump.
