I think in the big picture the two are pretty even (wins, chances at and in the playoffs). Given that I will stay with Smith rather than having to root for the crybaby that Rivers can be.

I wouldn't trade for him because the people of San Diego have been questioning his effectiveness for two years. He's had 47 turnovers from 2011-2012 and his game appears to be on the decline. He's never won anything significant and he's 31 years old.

If he were available in free agency, I'd be interested. But as a trade? No.

If he bombs out this season, it'll be his last in San Diego, anyway.

The sad part is, you could swap all that for the name "Alex Smith" and San Fransisco and my reaction would be exactly the same. Free agency? Maybe. Trade? No thanks.

Rivers isn't declining.

The team around him sure did, though.

Philip Rivers was ANGRY in a really really Catholic way, and I think he wants to put the hurting on Kansas City! /Jon Gruden

No question, Rivers.

No, Smith is a much more even-keeled leader, not prone to kicking and screaming around on the ground and breaking all his toys.

ChiefGator 07-29-2013 03:23 PM

Rivers appears to be on a fast decline, no thank you.

Bowe would rape with Rivers. Rivers arm would open up the run for Charles even more. Chiefs would be a legit playoff team with Rivers at the helm.

DeezNutz 07-29-2013 03:26 PM

Please.

I say no. Would bet that Smith does way better than most expect this year.

I am fairly confident Rivers has a below average arm these days.

He is a way better quarterback than worthless Alex Smith.

No. Rivers has hit his ceiling. And Smith's best never be as good as Rivers but it's 6 on one hand....

Rivers isn't as elite as so many thought he was.

DeezNutz 07-29-2013 03:35 PM

It's funny that people think Rivers is trash, and his worst year compares favorably to Smith's best.
