if the Royals suck again, it will end in one year and the Royals will only be on the hook for one more additional year. If the Royals don't suck for some weird reason, he will get the second year too. This is why it's basically a one year deal. The Royals are saying "you got 1 year to prove you don't suck!"

You are kind of dumb. He was rewarded for the Royals having a decent season for the first time in ages.

Exactly. An extension this short implies a very short leash. This is good news, I was braced for much worse. There's no way he was gonna be fired at this point.

Not sure why we rewarded him know. An extension at the All Star Break when are in first place seems more in order. glASS is an idiot.
