I love Marty. He's the guy who turned me into a hard core Chiefs fan circa 1989.

At least he gets you to the playoffs. There are 20 other teams out there that would love to just make it to the playoffs. I'm sorry but you don't just fire a guy that got you a 14-2 record. Would you rather not make the playoffs 3 years in a row or would you rather make the playoffs all 3 years? He's good coach, and he was shafted. No one will be able to convince me otherwise.

Yeah sure he was conservative, but at the end of the day.. HE GOT HIS TEAM TO THE PLAYOFFS EVERY YEAR!! Ask the Bills, Browns, Cards, Dolphins, (and until this year, our Chiefs), Jags, vikings, redskins, bucs, if they would rather go the playoffs every year as opposed to going under 500 every year.

Yeah thats right, all those teams would love to have what he accomplished. As for why he was never re-hired, I have no clue. I really thought he would have been rehired quickly. All I can think is that he got upset about being fired after going 14-2 and decided he was done with coaching. All I know is that many underachieving teams would have loved to have him.

He was a good coach.

I love Marty so much.

I remember like yesterday. Marty would implode during the 1st round of the playoffs. And chiefs fans would say "at least he got you to the playoffs". It was alwahs moral victories in mediocrityville

Marty will always have his UFL title with the Virginia Destroyers to cherish.

He was a good coach.

Uh dude. The bills went to 4 ****ing superbowls during martys time in kc. Dolphins knocked the chiefs out.of.the playoffs a time or two. Redskins won a ton back then. Jfc people.

My man...Mr. Jenkins here played 9 games in three seasons and was cut. He then failed to make an XFL team. We drafted this cat at number 31 overall.

He is widely considered the worst number 31 overall pick since the merger.

In short...yes. He was that bad. He was Ryan Sims, Jr. Siavii and Todd Blackledge all rolled into one, fat, 340 pound pile of dog shit.

Sorry I was talking recent history, not 20+ years ago. My only question was that how do you fire a coach that led your team to a 14-2 record? Seriously?

Yeah, let's blame it all on Marty for his playoff failures. Just like I'm sure the Charger fans blame Marty for screwing up a game-winning INT in the playoffs by deciding to run with it and fumbling.

fan4ever 12-10-2013 11:12 PM

Marty should have been in a couple of SuperBowls at least if it weren't for unlikely scenarios. The Byner goal line fumble in Denver when with Cleveland, the dumbass corner not going down after intercepting Brady in San Diego and coughing the ball back up...not to mention with us...Petersen letting Lowry leave and signing that douchebag for example.

And I guess that is why I don't understand all this Marty hate. The guy was a good coach who always got you in a good position to win.

Thanks for the heads up. I just read his book a few months ago. Good stuff.
