You're right. We should re-sign Lewis. Way too risky to let Commings give it a shot.

No more Lewis but counting on anything from Commings as starting FS would be a huge reach. I'm all for him being able to do it but seriously? No.

Commings is nothing more than depth at this point and that's being generous.

Of course he is. He wont be anything more till he gets to camp, and shows that he knows the defense, and can stay healthy.

But, really, if he can get on the field at all, hes an upgrade regardless of the turds that were back there last year.

7th round pick.

If it still existed he'd be in Europe this spring.

So? Marques Colston was a 7th round pick, Marcus Cooper was a 7th round pick.

Victor Cruz, undrafted.

Wes Welker, undrafted.

Am I saying he is on this level?

Of course not. But to completely dismiss him, because of his drafted position, is ridiculous. We will find out if he can stay healthy and play.

That's all I was saying.

I thought he was picked in the 5th

which is not what he said at all.

We need to pickup up a viable starter for the FS position. If Commings can win the job then fine but we can't count on him. Same goes for Kelce, we can't count on rookies that were injured all year to start next year. We have no idea if they can stay healthy or even if they are good enough to start in the NFL.

Get serious. Nobody's shoulder is actually made of paper.

I believe this to be true.

Of course we're going to bring someone in to compete for the FS job. We'll most likely draft a guy, as well. Commings will likely be depth, and the primary backup if he plays well enough. Not everybody is like Kevin Ross or Mark Collins and can step into a new position without missing a beat.

I WAS being sarcastic when I said bring Lewis back. I'm not ****ing insane, you know.

From the sound or the article, it sounds like the Chiefs are planning to make this a competition.

kcxiv 01-18-2014 06:29 PM

Nothing wrong with him competing for it. Didn't see anything about the Chiefs handing him the starters job.

You can groom him for Free Safety and, if that doesn't work out, he can easily play a Demps type role in the dime and maybe one day in the nickel. It's a great thing.

Commings was a 5th rounder
