Yea, knowing how psychotic she was, he was terrified she might do something extreme like intentionally kill herself, the kid or him.

Although, I think I read more in to the parental relationships when I read the book, and I didn't get so much of that in the movie, for better and for worse.

There are so many obvious holes in her story about where she had been...they wouldn't be investigating that? The detective who was investigating Ben Affleck...she knew Amy had set him up...surely she would see to it that her real whereabouts and that Doogie Howser's death would be investigated. Any of the reporters following the story would have also seen the holes. So, that was stupid how that was just ignored and they just skip to them going on with their lives...which was also stupid. As if he would even stay 1 night under the same roof with that lady.

I think that they touched on that a bit at the end, when the FBI agent pushed Boney down when she was interrogating Amy. They want to believe the story, and so the do. Nobody is going to look to hard to try and pull the string to unravel the whole thing. They had their bow on top. No need to keep digging.

Wife dragged me to this. I liked the move but hated the ending. Is that the way the book eneded?
