Prayers for you dad.

My mother in law beat ovarian cancer last year. It's tough but fighting it is worth it.

Good luck to you guys. My mom just passed away from cancer herself. Something called oat cell. Dies 4 weeks after diagnoses. I hope I go that fast when I get it.

Prostate cancer has way better odds.

Sorry to hear that. I don't know what oat cell is but from my experience, a diagnosis of cancer in the pancreas (and I guess the liver, as well) is pretty much a death sentence.

Prayers for you and yours, my dad died of throat cancer about 7 years ago, wasn't the cancer that got him, it was the treatment.

My father had it a couple of years ago, he's 72 now. He made it through the localized radiation treatment with very few side effects. Treatments took less than an hour.

He's been fine since. (crossing fingers)

Best of luck to your pops

If it has spread there will is little chance to stop it or slow it down.
My dad was rather matter of fact, almost happy sounding and was quick to get off the phone citing that he needed to call my sisters and the rest of the family.
The oddest conversation I have ever had in 44 years.

Sorry to hear that man. My dad has had a few biopsies over the years. He would get these PSA tests and his protein levels would be off the charts making it look like he had fatal cancers. We thought he had it bad several times, but apparently he has a rare condition where he secretes way higher levels of the protein that the test targets making it look like he had cancer. Really scary times. He did have to have some surgeries and such.

Make sure to get yourself checked down the road if you fit the age group, this stuff is supposed to run in families. This is a really common type of cancer in older guys, and there are many types of slow growing prostate cancers as well.

Good luck OP. Although I kinda know what you are thinking right now, i also kinda don't...

My dad beat prostate cancer last year with proton therapy with little side effects, much better than having it carved out. Much less damaging than radiation which impacts all the tissue in between. My dad caught his really early with a PSA blood test. Praising medical science. Positive thoughts your way.

Got the results back on my dad. The cancer has spread but very minor. It has gotten to his bladder. They are going to surgically remove that part of his bladder. He is going to get radiation and hormone suppressing shots.
According to the internet and his Dr. dads chances for survival is almost 90%.

BlackHelicopters 07-30-2014 10:59 AM

Good news. Prayers for your entire Family.
