They got their asses whipped by the Fighting Rick Rays. ROFL

I feel your pain. I go to several KU football games a year.

No "good" kid wants to play for this abortion of a program.

Because college ball is SOOOOOOO heavily dependent upon recruiting, MIZZOU may never fight their way out of this hole.

Prison Bitch 02-14-2015 10:51 PM

Lol. It's the easiest sport to turn around quickly

George Liquor 02-14-2015 10:52 PM

If Baylor can do it, anyone can.

Very true, its not like football, in basketball it only takes 2-3 solid players to turn things around but Glorydays is also correct, kids don't want to play for Mizzou and therefore they will never get out of the hole.

Do you think kids were screaming to go to Wichita State or Butler ten years ago? Notice how Memphis and UMass shriveled up once Calipari left? Duke was a damned joke before K got there.

If you hire the right coach you can build a solid basketball program. Unfortunately for us, Missouri hired the only human being I've seen who could destroy a men's collegiate athletics program faster than Title IX.

In fact, that's what I'm calling him from now on: Title IX, or TIX.

That's the problem right there though, they can't hire the right people. I wouldn't feel so hopeless right now if I had the smallest shred of faith that they can get a solid coach here but they've proven they can't get it done.

3)Dumb **** blue hair alumni thought that the Norm years were something to aspire to rather than long stretches of mediocrity interspersed with some nice regular season records and a horrendous tournament record. Thus, they think that Norm's last lead assistant, who couldn't recruit a straight man to dive on a naked Kate Upton, would somehow be able to recruit to players despite not having been at this level since his Freshmen were wearing Pull-Ups.

Long story short--Norm had problems with a lot of black players. His "True Son" can't relate to them worth a damn either, and rather than try to bridge a gap in age and culture he continually utters offensively ignorant and out of touch platitudes while being wholly unable to actually do the one thing he was praised for--draw up an intelligible offensive or defensive scheme.

Because the vast majority of Mizzou fans are mouth-breathing idiots who yearn for the nostalgia of mediocrity, they applaud this pathetic and transparent act of "discipline" (which is really closer to unintentional racism), acting like it is going to accomplish anything other than a mass exodus of talent and make sure that nothing beyond MIAA to OVC talent comes here in the future.

Basically, Kim Anderson is the neutron bomb that the True Son set detonated over Columbia. Yeah, you don't see any physical damage to the facilities, but the program will shortly be depopulated of anything resembling a DI basketball player.

Given the relative level of talent on this team (they have more 4 star players than they have since 2002-3), Anderson should and likely will go down as the worst coach in the history of both revenue sports at Mizzou, even though none of the aforementioned mouth breathers will ever admit it.

He will never win more than 18 games in any season here.

From a Kansas perspective: imagine if you took the personal skills of Mark Mangino along with the tactical and recruiting incompetence of Turner Gill (along with the wholly misguided disciplinary priorities). Now, imagine that the hire was also driven by affiliations with an overrated prior regime (like say the Chiefs hiring Kurt Schottenheimer).

That's Kim Anderson. The mere thought of him makes me want to vomit.

Wow. What happened to the coach that won the 12 a lifetime ago?

I hope you're right, but this is MIZZOU. The only bright note is that with MA's departure, "stupid" just left the room. The challenge now is, does "stupid" get replaced with "'tard"? Time will tell.

Well, we only lost by three, but still disappointing that they couldn't win at home. My general observations:

1) This team has no low block presence. None. Rosburg is the world's largest flightless mammal. He plays like he has oven mitts on his hands. He can tip balls out, but he can't rebound. He can't position to rebound. He can't drive. He has no post moves. And still, he had a career game yesterday because MSU was terrible defending the rim. The Canadian dude Post had two fouls in the first four minutes, so Rosburg played most of the first half. Those two combined are basically the Haley twins without the rebounding ability.

2) Mizzou has no outside shooters. None. I was watching Gill-Caesar, Bello and Wright during warm ups. None of them could hit a jump shot from anywhere. I mean they literally missed about 90 percent of their shots in warm ups. And that's unguarded. In the KC Star this AM, it said Gill-Caesar and Wright were a combined 3 of 15 from the field, 1 of 9 from 3-point and 1 of 4 from the stripe.

3) The only players who looked like they belonged in a D1 NCAA game were Williams 3 and Shamburger. Shamburger is not a a good point guard. He never hits a cutter, he can't drive to draw the defense and dish. He's just a very average shooting guard. He can shoot a little, but not enough to carry the whole team. Williams 3 had a career game. They ignored him the whole first half, and he had a monster second half or Mizzou isn't in the game. Not even close.

4) Mizzou was 14 of 21 from the stripe. Not near good enough. If they hit four more free throws, they potentially win.

5) I can't name one thing that this team does well. I don't put this on Kim Anderson. But I can't see where he gets more than maybe two years to turn this around. Very important that he recruits for next year. They have to win at least a few home games. If they don't show some improvement, whoever the new AD is, may want to bring in his own guy. Mizzou only has two guys from Missouri on the current roster, seems like Anderson should have a better shot at recruiting players in-state.

Oh, I did see Jeremy Maclin and Chase Daniel. I pleaded with Maclin to sign with KC and gave him the chop. He just smiled and waved.

Here's some pics from my seat yesterday. Even though we lost, me and the boys had a very good time and it was a nice day.

Any good games on today? Pretty uneventful Sunday planned - supposed to get ice storm Monday night. When that happens here in Georgia - forget about doing ANYthing. LOL

4)

George,

Glad you enjoyed yourself. A few things in response, though:

1) The Haley twins may not have been good, or even decent, but it is an affront to compare them to Rosburg in any form. He's the worst player I've ever seen get consistent minutes for Missouri. I don't even know who else would be in his galaxy of incompetence.

2) The inconsistent effort and terrible defense is largely on Kim Anderson, as is the team's lack of any chemistry.

3) He can't recruit at all. They have three recruits signed for next year. Two are in-state. One, Cullen Van Lear, is a homeless man's Ricky Kreklow whose next best offer was Wofford. Terrence Phillips can't do anything but pass. He may never score ten points in a college game. Puryear could be a decent role player/marginal starter at SF.

Jimmy Whitt is a 6'4" PG, the best player in the state and goes to Hickman and didn't even look at Missouri all that seriously.

In fact, of the top five players in the state, one went to Arkansas (Whitt), two are going to Indiana, one to Wichita State, and the other is undecided.

Jayson Tatum, who plays at Chaminade, might be the #1 recruit in the nation next year. There is a less-than-zero chance he signs with Missouri.

In 2017, Michael Porter, whose parents both work in Mizzou athletics, will likely be a top 3-5 national recruit. There is also zero chance he goes to Mizzou.

We may want to play golf, but we are 15 minutes into a hurricane. The only thing we can do is batten down the hatches and ride out the ****ing disaster, hoping it gets over as soon as possible.

I would expect the team to lose almost half of Isabell, Wright, Gant, Clark, and Williams for next year, possibly more.

There is no way to properly categorize how awful of a coach this guy is. He wasn't fit to be a lead assistant in his mid 40's. He is as tone deaf a coach as you will ever find.

gblowfish 02-15-2015 11:58 AM

I'm willing to give Anderson some time, I think he's got a decent staff of guys working for him. The wild card is who becomes the new AD, and whether he has any confidence in Anderson or not.
