He's a good recruiter and his first couple years at USC were under tough conditions because of sanctions, but he had a preseason #1 team in his 3rd year and completely tanked. They ended up being the worst preseason #1 team in decades. Then the next year they weren't any better.
His one year at Tennessee was completely worthless. He's been okay with Alabama but he was widely blamed for their choke job in the playoffs last year. They were running the ball well and he completely went away from it. He's not really as successful as his reputation. I'd say the general consensus among college football people is few people have done less with more. |
