A reporter stated this is a well known company that send distilling products across the country to well known distilleries. So this effects us all.

I grew up in Atchison, and my Mom lives 3 blocks from MGP (luckily she wasn't home at the time). From what I've heard it was a bad chlorine spill. Part of the town was evacuated, the rest told to shelter in place.

BTW, almost all of the raw alcohol for McCormick's brand liquor is distilled in Atchison. http://www.mgpingredients.com/product-list/

Oh who knows? But yes, that's the rumor 'round the schoolyard. Gary's dalliances were pretty common knowledge, especially in his earlier years. The guy has an effect on women, I'll give him that. I've been in a room with him a few times because Columbia's the smallest town of 100,000+ people you'll ever find and each time women just kinda stare at him and drool.

I don't get it, but it appears to be pretty universal.

Word is it was chlorine mixed with H2SO4 AKA sulfuric acid. You sure as hell don't want to be breathing in that combination very long. :shake:

My uncle lives up there. I hope everything is okay for them. That is pretty messed up. Someone wanna explain what chlorine and sulfuric acid have to do with distilling?
