Why RR spams the boards with threads like this is beyond me. At least proofread your title...

Alex played a very solid game but give me a break. He's still not a franchise guy and will only change my opinion if he wins te SB as our QB. His stats are terrible and at the basement with QB's that are rookies or have been benched. He did rise up and run well last night when needed. This team would be the one seed if we had a better QB that throws td's.

Smith started taking Snaps for us. He may not be perfect he may not be flashy but the dude just f****** wins games, highest win percentage of any Qb going back to 2012, that counts no matter how many times he gets called game manager.

He's been on good teams. That doesn't mean much to most people. Running an offense that can hardly score and throwing for 13 td would not only produce a losing record on majority of teams, but he wouldn't even be playing at this point. He'd have been benched weeks ago. He's a bottom tier QB, the teams he's played on doesn't make many people think otherwise.

because it's a super bowl caliber roster. so the scenario in the playoffs is literally all or nothing.

if they make it to the Super Bowl it will be because Alex stepped up, and I will give him all the credit in the world, because that's all I wanted him to do.

If they lose, it's a bust, and it will mostly be on him. He plays the most important position, and when it comes down to it in the playoffs, QB is THE position that counts the most.

blah blah blah last years Denver team, yeah I know, don't care. Peyton still had his mind and clearly coached that team to the Super Bowl, clearly overrode Kubiak, clearly was the smartest guy in the stadium every game. That's an outlier example does not apply to us.

There's no excuse if Alex Smith can't beat the Tom Savages, Matt Moores and Matt McGloins of the world to get to Brady.

Oh wait, I get it.

Ha ha, I wondered about that.

Thread starting privileges, still?

What frustrates me more than anything about Smith is just when you think he has turned a corner and finally achieved that elite, clutch level of play that wins Championships, he takes one or two steps back to remind you he's still who he is. I wouldn't be surprised if that were at the core of most of the anti-Smith sentiment.

I know QBR doesn't count for everything, but it is an indication worth noting....

Take Big Ben's season.. he's had 5 games this yr with a QBR of 55 or less.. a few, much less. As great as Tom Brady is, he had a couple games in the 40's.. one of them against DEN.

5 games of 55 or less for Aaron Rodgers, and 5 for Drew Brees.
6 with less for Russ Wilson
3 for Flacco, but he lived all year in that upper 50's range for all but a few games

Alex has 5 games below 55... He is currently ranked 14th on QBR in the league. (unless not updated yet, which would then raise him up)

My point is not that he's wonderful, or having a great yr. It's that even the perceived better QBs are all pretty inconsistent. They are just numbers... stats.. but QBR is a decent one to get a feel for how much heavy lifting a QB is doing week to week.

MORNING!

(too loud?)

Your commentary was great in Chat last night.

I'll further crush their souls... Alex Smith played really well last night. Alex is much more efficient when the ground game is really strong and he doesn't have to push things.

Direckshun 12-26-2016 08:44 AM

Can we at least acknowledge that Smith has played three playoff games for the Chiefs and balled the **** out in all three?

No. I'll give him 1/3 though.
