Nobody is going to call Ware's performance this year great by any stretch of the imagination, but he still had nearly 1000 yards and got 4.3 per carry. That's the league average over the last fifteen years.
Also, recall he was a 6th round pick for Seattle that KC got off the street three months after he was cut. You don't have to expend draft selections for RBs. |
I don't know where this kid will land in the draft or if he'll be drafted at all. But I'd like him to have a KC Arrowhead on his helmet when the smoke clears.

However, I'm not against a mid to late round RB pick...we need one. I'm not a fan of West back there. |

This kid reminds me a lot of Ware with about 3/4 cup more power/tackle-breaking ability and breakaway speed. Would love him and Ware as a 1-2 punch similar to Henry/Murray in Tennessee giving Reid a power run option when the Chiefs have a lead and/or want to devour clock. |
Can he hold as effectively as Fisher?

Buckhalter was a north and south guy as well

Can he play left tackle without getting called for holding penalties?

Reminds me of Shaun Draughn.
This is not a compliment. Power backs can be effective if they're quick enough to the hole to keep guys from coming down the line and taking their legs out from under them. I'm not sure I see that initial speed to the whole that I'd want to see. He just seems to take a looooooong time to get moving. And the team has a RB in Ware that's close to a chain mover than they do a true explosive threat. If you keep Ware, his complement needs to be the faster, more explosive nature and a true receiving threat out of the backfield. Smith would make Ware redundant. |

When making the roster up he keeps cutting the power backs and keeping the smaller, faster variety. Wasn't even Ware still on the practice squad until Charles got hurt? |

people are depressed about the season, moving on to the draft will be a good thing Having all the non-mock draft stuff in the Lounge is a good thing. imo |

I like West... did an article on him as a rookie when it wasn't a gaurantee he'd even make it to training camp....but the offense stagnated with Ware out and I'd argue Ware was never the same after the concussion. I don't quite agree with the Draughn comparison. I actually see more Thomas Rawls in Smith...a reckless wreckingball...the violence he runs with. I also see cutback vision and a nice subtle ability to slip tackles when not seeking contact. You're not going to get much flash with Smith but you will have a defense not at all looking forward to tackling him in the second half. Smith is a guy I could very much imagine Bienemy lobbying for in meetings, especially if he goes undrafted. |
