Peterman is a guy I'd take in the 3rd just to be my backup. You know you can coast through a couple games with him. Might not be a starter, maybe he is, but I think you'd get a guy that would do well enough if your #1 went down short-term. I really don't think he'd be worse than Smith, so there's that part of it too. You can win with guy, iMO

Seems to me that he's sharp, has a decent arm and has good mechanics. To me, he seems to have some Drew Brees in him.....of course, several levels removed. Nonetheless, what'd I miss that leads you to think that he could not be a "game on the line" type guy?

There's this silly notion going around that guys who had to change teams or who got benched for other QBs in their college careers are all Tom Brady.

Davis Webb is touting that as "I've got that Tom Brady chip on my shoulder! Never give up!"

Nate Peterman is doing the same thing.

Even Mitch Trubisky to some extent talks about "waiting his turn... make the most of your opportunities... just like Tom Brady had to..."

They tout those stories as positives and general character-building experiences because the only stories you hear about that happening are to guys like Brady or even Joe Flacco, who had to transfer to Delaware because his coaches wanted to ride Tyler Palko (no joke). You don't hear about the dozens of other QBs who got pushed to the side and transferred because they're all ****ing garbage and nobody remembers them.

John Gruden QB Camp videos are never the be-all-end-all of figuring out who a good QB is, but if you don't look at least presentable in these things, I don't think I've seen an instance where that player has gone on and had NFL success.

I hope he had much better games than that Clemson game.

Tom Brady was platooned with Drew Henson because Henson was the local golden boy and Lloyd Carr knuckled under booster pressure.

Even presuming you're correct and he does 'have some Drew Brees in him....'

He has a LOT more Aaron Murray in him.

He's a backup. I'd take Kaaya before Peterman. And I wouldn't consider either of them before our late 4th.
