You know what comment about Mahomes (that Andy Reid made during rookie minicamp) that really stood out to me?

He said twice that Pat isn't "afraid" to throw deep.

I thought that was an interesting choice of word.

Smith is a good QB to stabilize a team with.

stabilize is a good word for it. Like when the EMT stabalizes the gunshot victim. You don't expect him to do the surgery that ultimately saves them, just stop the bleeding.

After he gets smoked from his blind side by an NFL Defensive End he might have second thoughts about throwing deep.

There is a point to be taken from this.

Mahomes has the swag, and that probably won't get shaken easily, but many a QB can get mentally scared of the hits after a while.

I really though Smith would be able to shake off the early damage done, but nope.. he pulls his eyes off of the coverage.. and onto the pass rush too much.

It's good that KC has an unbroken talent at QB now, and it's great that he will get his early chances with what now is a good pass pro OL. Hope he stays hungry... and SINGLE? no kids? That would be best. A quarterback starts worrying about all of that, and it can limit the aggression.. making them a game manager.
