I saw two soloists this year, Rafal Blechacz and Joyce Yang, who are both really really amazing.

Makes me want to start playing again. My Mom was a music major and taught piano lessons. She made me play starting in the 3rd grade. After 2 years she said it was my choice to continue or stop. Like a dummy I quit.

Flash forward 35 years and the job was bringing me down. I bought an old church up-right ancient beat up piano to help my attitude. All I could remember was Middle C. It took me 3 months to play "Bill Bailey", the only song I could print out on-line.

Then I took some lessons from an 86 year old lady. Such Sweetness. After a year she wanted me to play in her yearly recital. I really haven't taken the time to play much in the last 5 years.

Sad. Now I am inspired. Thanks!!!!!!!

Not the best, probably, but it made me think of this piano prodigy who improv's a piano sonata from four notes picked from a hat.

A tie for me. Keith Emerson and Rick Wakeman.

I will never forget Valdimir Horowitz playing in Russia on his 1st trip back back around 1985. It was on CBS Sunday morning and though he didn't have his technique that he had when he was younger he killed it that day.

I like Rubinstein a lot too.

Hard to pick a Jazz guy. Probably would go with Monk or Hancock.

Rock wise I would go with Billy Joel. I like Roy Bittan from the E Street Band as well as Bentmont Tench.

All those guys scored too fast.

LOL
